Tags are gone

i moved all my music files around and when i did a rescan i noticed that my own tags are gone now (which i made with mediamonkey). is there some way where i can avoid this in the future? or is it better to use such programs as mp3tag?

rating, played # and some individual tags i made. for example a few files don't have a date anymore because i added it or i changed the genre with media monkey and now it is like it was before...
