While I love MM, I have to admit that I am quite disappointed. This is is the second issue now that seems to have the MM staff reacting to a change late in the game as opposed to preemptively working on a solution. The Amazon art issue.. announced months in advance before MM staff scrambled to put out a version to answer the issue.. and now the iTunes 9/iPod/iPhone issue.. iPhone 3.1 & sdk was dropped back in June. And again, mad scramble to get a fix out while other companies released iTunes 9 & iPod/iPhone compatible softs on 9/9 & 9/10.

Again, don't get me wrong, I love MM and am not an Apple fan (however I do like the iPod & iPhone) But don't blame Apple for someone else's mistake. It isn't Apple's responsibility to make sure that software that is built using their libraries doesn't break, it is the developer. When you're dealing with dependency issues in software, it isn't the depended upon libraries that are at fault, it is your program.

I don't think that there is a better music management system out (especially for a 240 gig library) than MM. If I did, I'd be using it and not here complaining about MM not working with my new iPod (5th gen Nano), that requires iTunes 9. Looking forward to being able to only have to use MM again.

apple is the new microsoft. goal of company: total world domination. muahahahahaha. i wouldn't even have their shitty software on my computer if it wasn't for the fact that if you need to update your iphone you have to do it through itunes. i absolutely love mediamonkey its been the only music player i've used for about 5 years now. can't wait for that patch. if i would have known the itunes update would screw up my music i never woulda dun it. :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

It took the MM dev team 1 day after their announcement to put out a beta version of MM which works fine with the new iTunes. I'm not sure how much quicker you really think these things should be released, but I can't see how 1 day is really that long to wait. Its not like Apple is informing MM of the changes its making or prereleasing the iTunes upgrades to MM so that they can prepare for this sort of thing.

OK. This is really weird.

I've upgraded to the new iTunes.
I'm running Windows 7.
As MediaMonkey was failing to start, I decided to try compatibility mode (for XP SP3) and Media Monkey works...

Weird.

Will be watching for the update...

Hey guys. Had the same Audio Library problem as you were also reporting. I had upgraded to iTunes 9.0 a couple days back when it was released and also the last released version of MediaMonkey (3.1.1). Even just to play any M4A iTunes files, I was getting errors saying I needed to upgrade to latest Quicktime version (which I already had installed when I updated to iTunes 9). Also lost the ability to convert DRM free M4A files into MP3 format.

I tried the link the user listed above with the new Beta release of MediaMonkey and installed that and can report all is good. That version fixed the issues I had with Audio Library not responding and all the problems I had in trying to play a M4A iTunes file or convert a DRM free iTunes files into MP3.... I didn't have to take out that ..iphone.dll file either.

Here is that link and I downloaded the last version listed there...MediaMonkey 3.1.2.1266 (Beta 1) which was released on Friday Sept 11th soon after the iTunes update came out this past week.

Forum Post link:
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=34522&start=45#p221799

File link:
http://www.mediamonkey.com/beta/MediaMo ... 2.1266.exe

Hope this helps you...it fixed the issues I had.

Thanks MM guys for getting on top of this. Can't ask for much more. I will watch for the official Media Monkey update version release from this Beta version.

Cheers!

I am in the same boat as Emrik. Tried all the suggested "fixes" and the latest Beta version. MM just hangs at the startup logo.

I'm so annoyed. I only wanted iTunes to browse the store and had no idea it would screw MediaMonkey so badly. :(

Any help appreciated.

OK I fixed it with this:

It will start up fine if you rename d_iPhone.dll to d_iPhone.dll.off (can be found in the Program Files\MediaMonkey\Plugins folder)

I had renamed this file previously but not in this way. Cheers nohitter151! :D

Let me preface my post by saying that I am a long-time user of MediaMonkey (Gold version) and view it as a far superior tool to manage my music than iTunes or any other program. You (nohitter) have also been very helpful to me the few times I have posted in this forum.
However, with respect, I must point out that while MM now supports iTunes 9 (in a beta version only), it does not support iPhone OS 3.1 and support for iPhone OS 3.0 only recently moved into the beta stage. Apple does make OS releases available to developers for advance compatibility testing and, while I'm not sure they'd welcome the MediaMonkey development team with open arms, I'm sure access to these beta versions of the iPhone OS can be obtained.
Additionally, the fact that a follow-on release (3.1) would be forthcoming has been well publicized for quite some time. Other applications (including some that allow syncing with the iPhone) are already 3.1 compatible, so we know it's possible.
Although many of us are simply consumers of MediaMoney (purchasing the software for a specific purpose and not knowing or caring what goes on behind the scenes or under the covers - we just expect it to work), I'd venture a guess than many would be willing to make an extra effort to speed up the compatibility process. Is it money (speaking for myself, I'd gladly pay extra to ensure rapid iPhone OS compatibility)? Is it information (please tell us what you need)? Is it something I'm not mentioning (again, please tell us what you need)? To this point, we are told something on the order of "we're working on it and it'll be ready as soon as it's ready". I'm okay with that sort of "close to the vest" process as long as we see results. Unfortunately, we're not seeing those results. As a customer, that's not acceptable in the long run.
