How to use MM tags to help catalog physical CD's

Post by cnbehler » Mon May 03, 2010 1:45 pm

I'm in the process of ripping my hundreds of CD's to MM, after which I will store them in numbered bins/file cabinets in the attic. I'm guessing I could put the bin # in the custom tag of each track on the CD after I've ripped it (or is there a better way?) But beyond that I'm stuck! Can/Should I set up a filter view so that I can see see which CD's are in each bin? If so, how? Bonus points if you can tell me how to export the Artist/Album/Genre/Bin# data (as one record for each CD) to Excel so that I can keep a spreadsheet version of the catalog (in addition to MM). Thanks!

I'd just save the number to a custom field (you can even rename the custom field to "Bin number" or something similar via the MM options under 'Appearance'.)
