How MM files

Post by raharris » Sat Aug 28, 2010 6:52 am

I am trying to get MM let me store info on my Vinyl collection - just metadata not the actual music

So my thought was to create directories, named appropriately by artist, with subdirs named appropriately by album title and then put in some "stub" mp3 tracs - each named appropriately by song title. I could do all this programatically.

i.e.

\\Vinyl
\\Joe Cocker
\\Joe Cockers Greatest Hits
1 Best Hit # 1.mp3
2 Best Hit #2.mp3
etc

When these are imported into MM the artist is Unknown as is the Title. The Filename is correct (as I have labeled it)

Is there anyway around this (that does not involve my typing all 16,00 song entries I would have to deal with)? Tagging from Filename does not seem to rename stuff

Goal here is merely to have list of Vinyl (I want a "Grand Unification" of all my music - CD and Vinyl) in 1 database. Goal is not to digitize the vinyl music.

Thanks

You will need to use Tools > Auto-Tag from Filename: http://www.mediamonkey.com/sw/webhelp/f ... lename.htm
