WASAPI Exclusive Mode issues in Win7

Post by dstrimbu » Sat Nov 26, 2011 10:49 pm

Hi, just upgraded from 3.x to 4.0.0.1459. HP Z600 (12Gb, dual Xeon X5650, Nvidia Quadro 5000, multiple drives; root on OCZ SSD) running Win 7 Enterprise x64, SP1. Audio out via USB to a Pro-Ject USB Box.

The machine is very lightly loaded when this occurs - 1% CPU util, 15% RAM util... when running WASAPI exclusive mode at 44.1/16-bit, especially when clicking through songs in a fairly manic manner (listen for 10-15 seconds, pick another, rinse, repeat, et al), MM4 will play fine for about 10-15 songs, then the output breaks up and stutters - I actually heard it seem to slow down at times, like one was dragging a finger on a LP record.

When exclusive mode is off, it works like a charm.

Other than "don't use exclusive mode", is there a solution at this time?

Nice looking upgrade, guys. Looking forward to exploring more...

Cheers, -Don

Hi all,

i've got similar problems on my lenovo-notebook, audio output via usb to a "Musical Fidelity V-DAC".
In my case the stuttering is also when running the wasapi-mode at "automatic".

Anyone got an idea?

Thanks,
Olli

Some USB DAC do not work well with Wasapi in Event mode; you may try to disable Event mode in Wasapi advanced settings.
