What is auto-tag from web?

Post by geoffpaulsen » Sun Dec 11, 2011 4:26 pm

So, what is the difference between auto-tag from web, and Get Album Info from Freedb?

I was using Get Album Info from Freedb, before ripping my audio CDs to FLAC.

I missed one CD, and Everything is Unknown and the Tracks are just Track 1, Track 2, etc.

I'd like to select that whole CD worth of FLAC files on my Harddrive and use the Get Album Info from Freedb to assign the information, but it looks like that's not possible.

So, I tried installing two different scripts for the auto-tag from web feature, but they either generated incorrect information, or no information.

Using Media Monkey 4 Gold Lifetime.

FreeDB only works on CD's. Auto-Tag from Web can work on CD's but would require the user to enter some basic information like Artist or Album in the tags or the search box of the Auto-Tag from Web window. Some fields like Album Art will be lost when ripping CD's.

So generally you'd use FreeDB before ripping and Auto-Tag from Web for files on the PC hard drive (after ripping).
