Lowlander -- some odd error msgs?!?!?

Postby lino11 » Sun Jan 01, 2012 10:39 am

Got the new 4.0 MM.

Been noticing some rather odd errors after loading up my library -- 355gb 46k+ files -- that other versions didn't have issues with. If it helps, I have an external HD that I keep my music in and have been using MM for years with the same library.

It first occurred when adding/rescanning, during the process I got a significant amount of errors. But it looks like most everything still has loaded fine and plays fine.

But it happens when I load up MM for each new session and it also happens when I try to auto-tag an album or manually tag an album (I can manipulate data individually without issue).

Here's basically the error msg:

Error executing SQL statement "DELETE FROM albums WHERE ID in (42339, 42340, 42474, 42614 etc.... lists about 50 numbers):" database disk image is malformed (11,11)

Thanks for any help in advance!!

Tends to indicate the database is damaged: http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... ticleid=78

As this happened after upgrade you should update to MediaMonkey 4.0.2: viewtopic.php?p=324845#p324845 Then run File > Maintain Library with complete optimization. If that fails try copying the MM3 database to the MM4 database location and then start MediaMonkey.

Thanks for the timely response, you have helped a lot in the past.

However, 4.0.2 didn't seem to solve the issue. I tried to com. optimize the library and left it for several hours. The mouse icon seemed to have just stayed frozen in a state of load (the loading circle animation *was* moving tho) but after a few hours, when there was no kind of confirmation, no menu change, nothing to indicate that anything had actually happened, I killed MM in the task manager when it didn't respond.

Should I have waited longer? Is there any kind of confirmation I should be looking for?

Also, oddly, in my Local/AppData folder, even after toggling on 'show hidden files' I couldn't see a MediaMonkey folder to try the devs suggestion and edit the .ini or DB files. Nor was anything in my Roaming folder.

I used MM every day and over 46k files loaded from my external perfectly just the day before. And I've had a large library for years. Not sure what's going on. No sure wha gwan. Sad face n stuff.

Since I'm getting an SQL error I figure the .db file is the issue. But I don't see a MM folder let alone a .db file to change.

NOTE: If you cannot see these files, it likely means that you need to enable viewing of hidden files/folders. In Windows explorer, go to Tools > Folder options. Select the View tab and check "Show hidden files and folders". The folders and files listed should now be accessible.

Did you do a portable install?
If so you will find the files in c:\Mediamonkey
:)

Not necessarily. The files would be in the "Portable" folder under the "MediaMonkey" folder which he/she could have installed anywhere, not necessarily the root C: drive.

Thanks guys.

Nothing's worked. MediaMonkey literally went from working perfectly to barely usuable with the 4.0 update.

Is there any direct tech support that could "log me in" to my pc or something?

You can contact Tech Support here: http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... &_a=submit

I suggest you start by sending a debug log (step 4b) if you want to contact them: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=69

I would suggest to do a search on MM.DB on your PC and make sure hidden and Operating System Protected files are searched as well. This should find the MM.DB use (multiple should be found). Along with date modified you should be able to see which is the currently used one.

Dear Guys,

Look. I just got a new job. And it's been demanding. I can't live without MediaMonkey and this thing is driving me crazy, I haven't the time to troubleshoot it.

I just bought the $50 gold version.

Isn't there some tech support that can logmein to my desktop or....?

I'm sure it wouldn't take more than a few minutes as MM has always worked flawlessly on my thingy thing.

oh, i just realized something.

Because I had just uninstalled MM, then bought gold, re-installed, I got a new error message at the launch saying something about a K: drive.

i don't even have K

But did you follow any of the suggestions to try to delete the database as that is what is needed?
