Converting FLAC to M4A

Postby Grayson Lee » Sat Feb 11, 2012 11:46 am

Hello:

I have some 24-bit 96 kHz FLAC music files that I wish to convert to 16-bit 44.1 kHz M4A format.

Is this possible in MM?

Thanks,

Grayson

Hi Lowlander:

Thanks again for your reply.

When I purchased the Gold Version of MM4, I also purchased the MM codec pack. I see it under Tools > Extensions. Will this convert the FLAC files as I have described? Also, I have no idea how to access the codec pack other than for seeing it under Tools > Extensions. Can you please direct me, as I couldn't find any references under Help.

Thanks,

Grayson

Just use Tools > Convert Audio Format on selected files. http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... ormats/4.0

Actually I tried that before the initial post. However, under Convert Files, there is only a setting for format and destination.

There are no options for adjusting either Bit-depth or Frequency. If I run the conversion, I get a file in M4A format, but still at 24-bit, 96 kHZ, as opposed to 16-bit, 44.1 kHZ.

To clarify, it is not possbile to perform this conversion in MM?

If not, do you know of any software that can do this?

Thanks,

Grayson

Yes

This is very negative, and probably one of the MOST negative aspects of MM.
There is NO POINT in selling MM GOLD at 45$, THEN selling the codec pack at 10 more bucks,
ONLY TO DISCOVER THAT YOU CAN'T resample your 24-96 or 24-88.2 or your 24-192 in order to listen to them in a decent AAC quality on your iPOD.

Frankly, its just a matter of fixing a few parameters though ONE pane.
dbPowerAmp does it, foobar can too.
I was glad to pay for all this but I feel somewhat cheated.

You are right that this should be possible, there's even an issue already entered for this http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=9509 . We'll look into it asap.
