Okay, so I'm stupid

Postby Bill.Park » Thu May 03, 2012 11:00 am

This makes no sense to me at all.

I copied my CDs to a network drive here in my home.

The drive letter for all of my music (lets call it DR) is filled with subdirectories of artists, under that, subdirectories of individual albums.

Anytime I get Mediamonkey to play anything other than any single specific song that I chose, it is an accident.

All I want to happen at this point is for Mediamonkey to randomly play my stored music, all from this DR subdirectory.

How do I do this?

Then, if I should be so foolish as to stumble around until I manage to get to an internet radio station and manage to somehow play that, how do I get back to my DR to play my stored music>

Cause I'll tell you, I've been fooling around here for two days and I cannot figure it out.

I'm struggling to follow.

You can select any file(s) from the drive in the Music Collection (or Classical Music for classical music). You can setup an AutoPlaylist with criteria Path = DR and then tell Auto-DJ to play from that AutoPlaylist thus having random file playback from DR.

Just set up an autoplaylist.
Use MM built-in HELP for further details but if you use the advanced tab (which I find easier :-? ) you can easily create a random playlist of xx tracks from your entire library.

Whoops another CP - must learn to type quicker :D

autoplay lists is the way to do it. then just use windows scheduler timers in conjuction with peke's windows scheduler script to have your computer play the lists at certian times of the day.

fully advanced auto playlists are only on the pro mm version free version has limited lists.

monkey is very good at auto lists. i use them to make monkey play all day and night with out me having to do a thing other then start the computer the first time, i then have it set up to restart and do maintance and then restart monkey to play music with on a daily schedule.

look at the help link in my sig. to find the link for broadcasting you will learn more of what to do for playlists there and maybe some other links to help you will on that page.
