WMP won't open m3u playlists?

Hi all. I have a problem with playing exported m3u playlists in Windows Media Player (and Media Center). When I try an open a playlist exported as an m3u file in WMP i get an error "Windows Media Player encountered a problem while downloading the playlist."

These playlists export fine to my Android phone and play fine with MM. How can I find what is causing them to crash in WMP?

Disable the UTF-8 option under Tools > Options > Tags & Playlists and try exporting again.

Im having the same problem...FireFox is my browser...

Im having trouble following your above instructions...where is this ?
In the Firefox browser or the WMP ?...cant find it in either (Laptop is Win8)...

Also is there anyway of setting up WMP to pretty mech play anyfile...Flac included...My old laptop (XP)i had that running so WMP could pretty much open and play anything,
but im not sure how i set that up (probably online advice)...its been years..

The option mentioned above is in MM ... not firefox?

Sorry I can't help on the WMP question as I stay as far away from WMP and MC (oh my) as I can.
