Did not import xx files

Postby efantom » Sat May 05, 2012 11:50 pm

After scanning my folders I see a "Did not import xx files (did not match import criteria)". Where or how can I see what these are? I have over 66,500 songs, with a collection of this size you can't just say, ohh that song is missing.

There is no way to get a list of files that were not imported. But this message "Did not import xx files (did not match import criteria)" only means that xx number of files were not imported because the file type did not match the file types you've selected to import. That will include non-media file types that cannot be imported into MM, like .jpg, .pdf, .db, .doc, etc.

Getting the same problem here. I have an album where all tracks are numbered 1-5 and suddenly, it chooses to leave out tracks 7 and 9 for no reason. I updated to the latest version and I suspect this is why. Previous version had no problems. It's doing this for several of my albums, selectively choosing to ignore certain tracks even though they are all MP3!

I've looked at the options and I have not selected ignore files shorter than etc.

I cannot seem to find any explanation for this.

Sorry, the above is meant to say. As an example, Tracks 1- 15.

Did you check other Collections like Classical Music for the files?

I don't use other collections like "Classical Music". I always leave it as "Music" which then has it's own nodes. Even if the file were located in other collections, because the Album names are the same surely this should of flagged them up?

It's auto-determined by Genre not Album: http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... _Rules/4.0

What I mean is that I cannot see the tracks even if I search for the album name. And regardless of this, the whole album was the same genre,in this example, Electronic. Furthermore, if I click "Playlists" and "Recently Added" which are nodes I have always used to check that everything is imported into MM then as I mentioned, tracks would be absent.

The reason why I posted specifically in this thread is because I get the "Did not import" message.

The fact of the matter is not where the files are, but why they are not importing. I.e. I know they are nowhere to be found because they aren't even in MM.

So if I try to re-scan just the album folder. I would get all 1-15 tracks except for the two I mentioned before. And then the message "Did not important (2 files) message".

Also, as mentioned, I have chosen to use this one album as an example but in fact, for the last rescan I have done, it has chosen not to import several tracks from different albums. Again, same file type, and genres etc and using the methodology I explained above, to check whether they are "Recently Added", I see that some are missing.

Some reasons are listed here: http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... /4.0#Notes

If 2 files fail they may be corrupted or too short.

They are neither short nor corrupt.

I think I have solved it but now it has emerged into a different problem.

Using the above example again, tracks 7 and 9, the ones that didn't import have indeed imported, however the following has occurred:

1) On import it's changed the name of the artist, genre, title and even date. The only clue that these are the two files is the location and the file name.
2) The reason I couldn't find it under "Recently Added" is because MM thinks the file was already there. Except under all the name changes mentioned above. How I uncovered the problem was by going to the actual folder and playing the file and letting it open in MM.

The method of solving this - even though I shouldn't have to do this - is to remove the file from the library and rescan. Upon rescan it's correctly named it as it should have.

It sounds like files with the same Path have existed previously in your Library.
