Using iPad 2 as remote for MM

Postby Rocks » Thu May 17, 2012 3:28 pm

Just got an ipad2 and want to be able to select music from MM. Unfortunately my PC with MM is upstairs and I want to be able to control it from downstairs through my wifi network. Is there an app for that?

Go to Options > Media sharing, and check the box "Enable control of MediaMonkey player via UPnP/DLNA". Then any DLNA compatible app would work to control music in MM.

Or just use the MM addon "Monkeytunes" and use the "Remote" app from the appstore (normally to control itunes).

Thanks for the reply. For whatever reason i can't download the monkey tunes app onto my iPad. I go to the ipad app store and there is no such app.
I went to the monkey tunes site and tried to download the app but I just got a message that safari could not download the file.
Kinda stuck.

Monkeytunes is an MM extension, not an iDevice app. It's explained here:

Apparently I have to be spoon fed this.

I DL'd Monkey Tunes to my PC and set up MM to Enable control of MediaMonkey player via UPnP/DLNA, then I DL'd an app from the ipad app store called "DLNA Remote" and when I open that app and click on content it indicates that "No devices have been found".

What am I not getting?

Hi,
I just tested with friends iPad 1 and it worked.

Follow closely steps from http://melloware.com/products/monkeytunes/

Have you tried http://melloware.com/products/imonkey/ ?

The Remote you want is simply the Apple remote; the same one that is used for iTunes. I think it comes installed on lots of iDevices. I use an iPod touch, but I am sure things work just the same on an iPad.

Does MonkeyTunes appear in the MM tree? (If, not it isn't installed properly.)

When you have MM running and start remote on the iDevice does the name of your iDevice appear under MonkeyTunes in the tree? (If not, I can't offer much help but to suggest that the iDevice might already have Remote controlling iTunes.)

If so, start Remote and choose Add an iTunes library. Remote will display a 4-digit number. Click on the iDevice name under MonkeyTunes and it will ask for that number. Enter it and click the acknowledgement and all should be well.

I think the problem is with Apple. I downloaded the Apple remote onto my ipad and the first step in using it required that I provide my Apple ID and pass. I forgot that info and had to reset my pass, unfortunately when I try to sign in Apple isnt recognizing my password. This is what I hate about Apple, everything has to go through their gate.

Maybe I'll try later, too frustrated now. Thanks for the replies.

I finally managed to log in and get the Apple remote to work on my iPad. I started MM and found Monkey Tunes in the tree. I tried to pair the remote with MM but so far have been unsuccessful. The iPad appeared in the tree for just a few seconds and in that time there was no box to enter the code that appeared in my Apple remote to pair the two.

I'm stuck at : my apple iPad remote is displaying a code that I am supposed to enter in Monkey Tunes but there is no opportunity to do so. The tree in MM is supposed to show Monkey Tunes/My iPad and then there is supposed to be a prompt to enter my remote number which is being displayed on the iPad remote but that is not working.

How is this thing supposed to work, how do I get Monkey Tunes to recognize my iPad and display that in the MM tree so I can sink these two?
