MM not playing any files

Hi
i have been having a peculiar problem. for the past few days MM is not playing any of the files in my library.
the tracks are visible and are highlighted when i play them. the slider does not move at all, there is no progress in track playing.
the tracks play fine in all other softwares.
i am able to edit tag and do everything else with the tracks but not play them. i have upgraded the player to the latest version but there has been no luck.
I am also not able to change the skin of my player. everytime i try to instal a skin it returns back to default

No they don't grey out... as i mentioned. i can tag, rename, copy,.. do everything with the files but play them.
