User defined settings

Postby bgoodman » Thu Jun 28, 2012 1:44 am

Is there a file or set of files that contain all user defined settings? I am recommending MM to a friend who does not live near me and in order to make it easier to provide some guidance in how to use MM it would be helpful if we both had the same interface. The idea is that I would send him a copy of my setting by e-mail and have him copy them to the appropriate location.

Thanks in advance

All settings are in the registry HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MediaMonkey and in the MediaMonkey.ini file:

Need help? Got a suggestion? Can't find something?

Thanks but is that the only location, I am more tech savvy than my friend and I am not comfortable messing with the registry. He would certainly balk at doing any modifications to his registry.

If you install as Portable it will be saved in a .registry file instead of the Windows registry. Then all you need is the ini, registry and db to have all the settings and as it is a Portable Install it should be easy to transfer (make sure you use the latest beta of 4.0.6 though).

Thanks for the reply,,,,, are you saying I should reinstall my version as a portable and then save the files noted? If so can I simply install over MM or do I need to do an uninstall first? Also, where exactly would I find the files in question?

I'd suggest a clean install, but you can use the DB. All files are contained within the install folder (Portable sub folder).
