I Can't Find My Playlist

Postby deanwelsh7 » Mon Jul 09, 2012 10:22 am

Hello,

This morning I tried moving a playlist (Lets call it 'Bob') up to the top position on the playlist node. I highlighted and dragged it to the top and let go of Bob. To my disappointment, he was no where to be found on my playlist node after I dropped him. I thought, "Hmmm. . . . Maybe I dropped Bob INTO another playlist by accident."

So, I opened up the all the other playlists I have (around 10 of them), going on a 'Bob' hunt. I could not find Bob.

Thankfully, he is 'hiding' somewhere in MM. Here is how I found that out. I would have a song in the 'Now Playing' pane. I would right click on it. Then I would select:

'Send To' >>> 'Playlist' >>> this lead me to a window that looked like this (pretend the names below are actually various playlists):

Bob
Fred
Sue
_________________________
Mike
Joe
John
Mary

Me again- so, I'm encouraged that Bob is still in MM. I can even add/edit Bob. But how in the world do I get him back into the Playlist node in the media tree that is on the far right side of the screen?

Also, the _________ line __________ between 'Sue' and 'Mike' - really does exists when I go through the above procedure (for whatever that is worth/matters -- probably not much! Grin)

Also, all the above playlists that I gave above in my example (ie. Bob, Fred, Sue, etc...) all have one thing in common and it is this:

The icon of a folder for any of those playlists have a BLUE musical note on them. IE. pretend the 'X' in the example below is a little icon that looks like a little sheet of paper, with the right upper corner folded back - and that there is a BLUE colored musical note on the center of the 'sheet of paper' --

X Bob

Some other playlists I have, do not have that blue note file icon. Instead they have an imagine on the sheet of paper icon that is ORANGE in color and looks like a martini glass tipped to its side a bit.

What is the difference between those two types of playlists? And, more importantly, once again - how do I get Bob back into the playlist node where he belongs?

As always, thank you very much for your help,

Dean

PS: After sending this, I'll do a reboot. If that 'magically' puts Bob back in his proper place on my playlist node, I'll let you know.

PSS: Yikes! I read that one lady's story about her problem upgrading MM. Lowlander was able to walk her through it and get things fixed . . . but that is a perfect example of why I am fearful to update MM. It might take me hours to get it back to how I currently have it/want it.

UPDATE: A re-boot did not solve my problem. UGH.

Help please!

Thank you,

What version of the monkey are you using?

Very descriptive  They are auto-playlist while the other ones (eg non-cocktail variety) are static playlists.

Perhaps you need some more girl name playlists which may encourage "bob" to come back on his own :D

Thank you Peke.

But, the more pressing problem . . . where did 'Bob' (my fictious name for my 'lost' playlist) go? He is not visible in my playlist node. Yet, when I highlight a song and decide to send it to a playlist - 'Bob' is one of the ones waiting to possibly receive it. So . . . . it is like it is there, some where, inside MM, but it is not in the Media Tree side. So, I can add to Bob (via the way I described above), YET (strangely enough), I cannot find Bob any where on the Media Tree so I can pull him up to listen to him. Ya follow what my problem is? Its frustrating.

I found an old thread that discussed this problem and it took somebody that is very knowledgeable with PC's (I'm not a techie, but I am not a newbie to PC's either -- having used them for over 20 years), several hours to get his problem solved with Lowlander's help. I couldn't follow/understand what Lowlander was having the other gentleman do. But it took about 15 posts, to get his problem resolved. So, I'm discouraged that I will not be able to fix this problem. Oh well, its not a hot stick in the eye or anything!

Thank you for your time and thoughts,

Dean

^^Ha. Thanks. I try to think outside the box. Right now I am wondering what 'box' my dear old friend Bob is in! I spent about 10 hours building him, he was about 1,000 songs strong. . . I guess I'll just have to rebuild him and not try to move him up the playlist node via a drag and drop. The last time I did that to Bob, he appears to have fallen off the edge of the MM world. :(

They are auto-playlist while the other ones (eg non-cocktail variety) are static playlists.

^^Yeah, believe it or not, I actually figured that one out on my own. Grin.

^^Yeah! Good idea! In my younger days when I use to go bar-hopping, if the ladies were not out at the particular bar I was at . . . I didn't stay long! Maybe good old Bob needs some female company. We all need some good loving!

Dean's new, revised playlists:

Gisele Bündchen
Miss Universe, 2012
Pamela Anderson
Miley Cyrus
Marilyn Monroe
Farrah Fawcett
Marilyn Monroe
Madonna
. . . and . . . our good buddy . . . who is MIA (missing in action):

BOB!

If those ladies are not successful in getting Bob to come out of hiding, then I imagine he will be lost forever!

Whoops. Two Marilyn Monroes. I'm getting hungry and tired. Any one feel free to help me replace my duplicate! :D

Ghez . . . I stuck my last bit of 'humor' in the middle of the post . . . making it about as hard to find as my dear old friend Bob. Here goes a repeat then I am done before I get kicked off the forum!

The recently used list above the line can include playlists that are no longer existent. I've never lost a Playlist using drag & drop and just tried again without success. Bob may be lost, but I don't know how this would be possible so this can most likely only be resolved if you can reproduce and capture in a debug log and/or have specific steps to reproduce.

Lowlander,

Understood.

I'm just not going to drag and drop my playlists anymore. Better safe, than sorry.

Thanks and take care,

Dean
