.5 second skip at start of songs

I'm running MM 4.06 on a windows 7 64 bit server used exclusively for music. When playing music every track will skip at about the 2 second mark for about .5second, and then continue on just fine...until the next track starts, and it does it again. I have noticed that the timer on the bottom right of the screen tends to start at - 0.02 on every track and the skip happenns at 0.00. Any suggestions on how to correct the issue? Many thanks!

You may want to check the correct Audio Device is enabled in the Output Plugin and/or change Output Plugin (Tools > Options > Output Plug-ins). Also make sure you didn't install addons that may affect playback like Silence Between Songs.

Thanks lowlander. There are currently 4 choices of output plug-ins for me to choose, and frankly I'm not sure which one is correct. That said, I have not changed this setting on my music server, nor am I aware of anything installed. The server has MM and dbPowerAmp as the ripper, and that's about it. I'll research the other plug-ins. Thanks!

I am experiencing a similar problem. I have my laptop connected to my headphones through Fiio E17 Alpen DAC/amp. I'Ve set output plugin to WASAPI, 24bit/96kHz non-exclusive mode (which should have the best quality (except exclusive mode)). When a new track loads, it stutters for a second and continues to play normally. It ruins a big portion of listening. What am I doing wrong? Thank you.

Output Plugin is different from Audio Device. Audio Device is set withing the Output Plugin settings and should be set to your soundcard.
