Auto conversion

Postby EricB2 » Mon Jul 30, 2012 4:09 pm

Newbie question.

Can someone point me to a resource or help me out with the following?

I just purchased MM Gold, and I am ripping my library to FLAC format, but would like to also have a WMA copy of all music to put on my player. I use Windows Explorer to copy the music I currently want from my computer to the player. Right now, after ripping an album, I go into the appropriate album, highlight all of the songs, and then do the conversion. What I am hoping I can do is have MM rip to FLAC into 1 directory and WMA into a different directory.

Thanks,

Eric

Why not Auto-Sync with MediaMonkey and have MediaMonkey convert the FLAC files to WMA on-the-fly when syncing thus not needing to keep a WMA copy on the PC: http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... Tracks/4.0

I missed one of the reasons for keeping the WMA copy as well... my wife has a thumb drive that she keeps music on that she uses and work, and I have to periodically change/update the music files that are on it and she only has access to WMP at her work.

Also, I am generally in a hurry when I am updating either her thumb drive or my MP3 player, so I don't want to have to wait on the conversion process (although I haven't tried it to determine if it is any slower than just copying the files, but I would imagine that the conversion would be slower).

Thanks,

Eric

That still could be done with Auto-Conversion, but of course that is slower than a straight copy.

You will have to do 2 separate rips if you want to have copies in both formats, or rip to FLAC and at a later moment convert the FLAC to WMA's.

That's what I thought the answer would be, but one can always hope.

I'll probably take a look at the scripting capabilities of MM and see if I can't hack together a script to do it.

By the way, your "Webmonkey" link in your tagline that should go to "webmonkey.flyinglowlander.com" take me to "Pinternet.net: The world of beer on the internet!" (although the URL is correct).

Thanks,
