How Do You Dictate Track Order When Burning CDs?

Postby kpiperjr » Mon Aug 06, 2012 4:05 pm

I'm trying to burn CDs of some of my greatest hits collections. I want the tracks to burn/play in order of oldest songs (when they were released) to newest.

I created a playlist and moved the sorted songs into the list, but it always creates CDs that play in alphabetical order.

Am I missing something?

If you are burning an audio cd the track order will be the same as the playlist.
However if you are burning a data cd - eg with mp3s on it then the track order is determined by whatever is reading the cd.
To get the track order in the sequence you want you need to force the player to read it in your sequence.
The easiest way is add a number to the filename once you have the playlist in the correct sequence.
Use <Auto Number> in the file mask eg <Auto Number>-<Artist>-<Title>.
That will make virtually all players (which use alphabetical sort) play the tracks in the order you wish.
:)
