Sorting by Album Artist

I've got a lot of music... over 24,500 tracks.
(and I don't regret buying all those CDs, so don't ask)

When I explode the Album Artist, I get all my artists in alphbetical order... Good.
When I explode, say the Beatles, I get all my Beatles albums in alphabetical order... Bad!
I want them in year order... can I do that?

You can only do something like that by creating a custom tree node structure, such a thing could be done with Magicnodes: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=19168

I had help creating this mask a long time ago by the creator of Magic Nodes. It is a Magic Node that is part of a collection called Randy (you'll need to change that, probably to Music). Hope this helps, I really like it.

Album Artist with Year|Icon:Top level|Child of:Artist|MM filter:Randy\<Album Artist>\<Album|Sort by:Max(Date)>

That sounds like I'll have to actually learn something.
Maybe I'll just live with it the way it is.

You don't even need to do all that. You can sort by multiple columns. Sort by Album Artist, hold Ctrl key and then click the Date column and it'll sort by that next. You'll see the sort arrow on both column headers.
