shorten filenames?

Postby dwl99 » Sun Aug 19, 2012 6:44 am

Is there a script or some other way to batch shorten or limit the length of filenames?
Thanks

Just use auto-organise files :-?
If you write the mask correctly the filename/path will be as long or short as you wish.
I use
Code: Select all
$Left(<Title>,50)
in my masks to limit the effect of some of those ridiculous long track titles
:)

Thanks for the reply - the mask I currently use for auto-organising files is D:\Music\temp\<Auto Number>. <Title>

Do I just add the extra bit on at the end?

Code: Select all
D:\Music\temp\<Auto Number>. $Left(<Title>,50)

That will limit the title to a max of 50 characters - adjust to suit :)
