Can I Move select files from external drive with MM?

Postby fortgeorge » Sun Aug 19, 2012 10:01 am

I did a search and nothing seemed to match my criteria, hope it's not a FAQ, if one does please post a link and I will delete this post.

We have our music on an external network drive but I got a laptop and obviously I can't be connected to the external drive when I leave the house with the laptop. I was wondering if there is a way to just import only the media I have selected to import in MM, we have a lot of music and I didn't want a lot of what is on there?

So what I want to do is import what I have in my library list onto my desktop or maybe to another personal folder on the external, but not the other stuff since I don't listen to it and don't want 150gb of it taking up space, not to mention the organization issues. Then I could transfer it to the laptop and just set MM to import everything in that file? I have only been using MM for a short time and don't have Gold, so maybe it's for that reason that I can't find an option for this?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

{EDIT}: Forgot to say that i use Windows 7, should that matter.

As far as I am aware (I am a lifetime Gold user) you can use auto-organize files (ctrl-R) to copy the files you have selected to your lappie
Just set up the mask correctly and you are good to go.
(I would suggest doing just one album at first whilst "testing" and remember to select copy and not move)
:)
