Remarks in MediaMonkey.ini?

Post by MMuser2011 » Fri Sep 07, 2012 2:53 am

How can I write some remarks in the MediaMonkey.ini?
I would like to explain some entries in the [FilenameMappings] section (for myself 8) )
Which character do I have to use to start/end remarks?

Surprising no one has answered you yet but I would assume that the standard semi-colon ";" before the comment line would work
I have a couple of comments like that in my ini file with no apparent ill -effects.

as with any script you should be able to make *****or ''''''' or '/ in front of the line of text and it should be ignored you need to do that with each new line, letting it wrap aound don't ignore it.

you could even do */ comment. to make sure in your SR. days you don't forget its a comment to you. :) :lol:

that has nothing to do with comments in the INI file.

Unfortunately, all my comments in the MediaMonkey.ini are gone... :cry: :(
I don't know why, but it seems that MM4 writes the section [FilenameMappings] entirely new during the closing/exit process.

Or what else could be the reason?

Yes I think you are right :-?
As a little test I created a new section [MyFilenameMappings] (Was a bit bored :D )
I then copied the content of the original over to that and added comments as above.
If I put the comments on a new line they seemed to disappear on MM exit but the comments in-line appear to stick
eg

Code: Select all

[MyFilenameMappings]
3A=2D;Put whatever text you want here
2A=2D ;More comments
3F=
3E=2D
Note MM is not using that but the original [FilenameMappings] so that is for your use only.

Thank you!

What about comments in-line in the original section [FilenameMappings]?
Do they survive a MM4 restart?
