synchronize - add new tracks, remove non-existant ones

Post by mmfan » Wed Feb 08, 2006 2:10 pm

ive searched for this here before posting the questions.
all the synchronization questions are related to external devices.

what about synchronizing folders in the hard disk with media monkey library.

i keep adding new mp3s to my folder, i delete a few sometimes.
but these changes dont show up in the library. they do only when i use the add/rescan function. but its a long process, takes a lot of time, an unintelligent option i shud say.

what do u guys do? is there any other way?

ive been trying out musikCube lately. it has a simple 'synchronize' button - hit that and it adds/removes entires to library in 'seconds'

this is the only feature that is making me move away from mediamonkey

can somebody help

I think what you are wanting is a 'folder watch' feature, of which is possible with MediaMonkey GOLD (paid version).

With Gold, you can specify particular folders to watch and whether to scan them for changes at startup.

The free version you have to rescan all files changes into the library unless you make the changes within MM itself.

To speed up the scan, you can set some options > Library:

- disable analyse tracks for duplicates
- ignore shorter than ## size or length
- enable update track info from tags when rescanning files + Only for files with changed timestamp or size.
- Or you can disable the option to update tracks info from rescanning completely. This will only update file paths and add new files (as far as I know).

Personally, I have MM gold and run with all of the library options enabled (all checked) and it only takes a minute or 2 scan through ~100 gigs depending on how busy my computer is.
