MM remember ReplayGain even after album removed from library

Post by oeyoeve » Tue Mar 08, 2016 9:15 am

Before doing anything, I use Mp3Tag to cut and paste tag info with read set to everything and write set to ID3v1 and ID3v2.3 only.

Step1: I remove an album from Library only, in MMW.
Step2: I then use Mp3Tag to clean out all ReplayGain fields in the extended Tag view for every track in the album.
Step3: I reload the file into Mp3Tag just to verify that the fields are gone.
Step4: I use Foobar2000 to doublecheck that there are no Gain data what so ever in any the tag for any track
Step5: Then I rescan the album into MMW, and the Volume and Gain data is still there.
Step6: I check with Mp3Tag and Fb2K ( with full reload) and there is no gain or volume data!
Step7: I add a silly text string to every track in the album using MMW properties dialog - just to trick MM into updating the tags.
Step8: All Gain data is back in both Mp3Tag and Fb2K !!!!

The above 8 steps shows that even if you choose to remove an album from the library, MM4 does not do that.
I have tried to maintain the library before step5. I have tried to exit and restart MM before step 5, and I have tried to sync tags after step5. Nothing changes the fact that MM holds on to Gain and Volume data and reapplies them to the album again when it sees it.

Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong?
I have not checked if MM does the same with other ID fields, but I suspect not.

Please help. I like MM but I find it to behave unpredictably in certain ways.

Analyze volume of unanalyzed files may be enabled?

You're editing the wrong tags in the file outside of MediaMonkey? http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... erties/4.0

Where is TrackVolume and AlbumVolume stored in MP3?

Post by oeyoeve » Fri Mar 11, 2016 8:35 am

Hi All,

I have a large number of MP3 files where I have deleted the ID3 tag completely to get rid of everything. Then I scan the library in a fresh install of MMW, and many albums show up with various data set for Track and Album Volume?!?
Where does this info come from?
(I checked using Foobar2K that there are no ID3 tags and certainly no MP3Gain info anywhere)

How should I understand these numbers?
