confused about how playlists work

Post by peppergomez » Sat Oct 21, 2017 4:51 pm

I just spent 2 weeks building a play list in MM, in large part taken from the songs on my ipod. I then removed the songs from my ipod.

Imagine my chagrin to find that now the songs won't play in my playlist without them being on the ipod.

I thought that creating a playlist in MM placed the actual tracks/files into the playlist, and not just a short cut that points back to the original location. How in that case could you ever sync a playlist to another device?

Quite irritated to have to start all over again here with building it.

Thanks in advance for clearing this up for me.

No, when you add a file to a Playlist it only adds a link to the file to the Playlist. This means that the files need to remain for the Playlist to work.

You should first move the files to the PC (if they're not on your PC already): http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... to-your-pc

Then you add the files on the PC to the Playlist: http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... ylists/4.0
