[SOLVED] The Windows crashed where I had MM installed

Postby jrsetters » Tue Oct 24, 2017 12:16 pm

I have all of my media on a separate backed up drive, so I haven't lost any of that. But I will need to do a rebuild of the Windows installation where Media Monkey lived. Will I have to completely rebuild my library in Media Monkey? If so will I lose anything I manually sorted or organized?

I do have access to the Windows partition where this was all originally being stored, and the drive containing the media will be the same as before (same letter, same path names etc). Are there any files in the old Media Monkey installation folder I can copy over to make the process easier? I had been pretty meticulous about moving and renaming the music I added to Media Monkey, so I believe it will all be consistent. I am thinking mostly about the meta data on the actual .mp3 files where I designated Artists and genres.

My main purpose for using Media Monkey besides just ripping/storing my CDs was as a method to bypass iTunes awful media management by synching MM playlists directly to our Apple devices.

You can copy over the database (MM.DB) and then run this Addon to match your files to the new driveID: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=63823&hilit=update+location+of+files+in+database

This worked perfectly, thanks so much. It even brought my playlists back, which would have been a nightmare to rebuild.
