Need a global database edit

Postby luket » Thu Jan 25, 2018 12:22 am

I changed hard disks for my media, and while all my thumbnails and ratings appear, many of the videos have an odd path name and won't play.

I kept the same drive letter J: for the new drive
My old video path (shown in the properties for that video) should look like this:
J:\Users\MyUserName\Videos\SomeVideoPath\SomeVideo.mkv

But after the disk swap, many of the videos look like this and won't play:
[Backup]\Users\MyUserName\Videos\SomeVideoPath\SomeVideo.mkv

If I edit the path in the properties and change "[Backup]" to "J:", it will play, but there are hundreds like this. Is there an easy way to global search and replace, or force MM to regenerate the paths without losing my ratings and tags?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ZvezdanD's Update Location of Files in Database script will fix that for you.

MediaMonkey stores the unique drive ID rather than drive letter so you can always change drive letters without problem but changing the physical drive breaks the links. The script updates the paths of all files so you can change everything from the old drive to the new in one quick operation.
