MM search if "the" is part of artist (TheFatRat)

Post by robojock »

Hi,

I noticed with build 4.1.24.1883 and 4.1.25.1891 that mm ignores search results of TheFatRat if i just search for fat or rat no results are given for that artist. Only time i get results is if i search "thefat / thefatrat"

This doesn't seem related to the, but instead that if you omit the beginning it isn't included in the results, whereas if you omit the end it is.

I did some tests and it has to do with "the" you can take any artist add "the" together with artist name (TheDavid) organise that file my mask is "<Album Artist> - <Album>\$if(<Track#>, <Track#:2>. )<Artist> - <Title>" go to music node and search for "david" you will see that there are no results for "david" unless you do a search for "thedavid". Changing only the tags will NOT replicate.

According to your search technique, the related name is searched from the left
Button: SEARCH returns all results whose subcriterion is included

@Erwin, if "the" is on its own, as in your case... then there are results... the bug is when the is joined with artist as in my example.

@Lowlander, this bug is also present in MM5 5.0.0.2203

Sorry, but it works for me too if I change artist and filename to "TheBaseballs".
Button: SEARCH: "balls" also provides "TheBaseballs"

Disable: Search whole words only

@Erwin, "Search whole words only" is disabled by default with mm4 and mm5... This is a bug with the software. Also if you READ my previous posts changing the tags DOES not cause the problem... You have to have it renamed in the path too.

In the path you use: Album Artist
as filename you use: Artist - Title
Compare the two entries in the properties:
Artist and AlbumArtist - is the same content here

Option >Search: AlbumArtist is activated?
See again my picture OPTIONS> Search: did you activate the appropriate fields?
What is the file name?
Use the button to search: magnifying glass

Erwin, all those fields are selected by default in mediamonkey and have not been changed.

Hello Robojock,
you are right - following test:

1. File List: Result is OK (criterion: "rate")
2. Entire Library: no result - BUG? (criterion: "rate")
3. Current Collection: no result - BUG? (criterion: "rate")

@Lowlander: OK - BUG- BUG - Selected only from visible listing

@Erwin, your folder needs to include it too and the issue is with "Artist" NOT "title". Also NOTE my artist everything is together TheFatRat as that is how is known. In your case, make it D:\TheCowboyBeat - FatRate\TheCowboyBeat - FatRate.mp3 then go to music node (NOT folder or anywhere else) search cowboy and TheCowboyBeat - FatRate will NOT give results.

@Erwin, after posting I see you edited your post. So you can reproduce it now? Also with "the" being in the title?

I have created a file: TheCowboyBeat - FatRate.mp3 and also the tags recorded.

I have also activated the "Music" collection in the MediaTree. Result comes only if "File List" is selected.
The result is the same as in my post: by Erwin Hanzl »08 Oct 2019, 09:40 FIG 4)

if you just want to search for COWBOY, you have to put the search term under quotation marks - "cowboy" FIG 3)

already strange:
not logged in and the post shows "Tue Oct 08, 2019 2:40 am"
logged in and the post shows: »08 Oct 2019, 09:40
