How songs are listed

Post by WP Steve »

I use a ION turntable to record songs but it lists them as Artist, Album and then Song. My car does not like this format in properties. How do I change the order in properties on songs that are already entered ?
Thanks, Steve

I am recording 45's on an Ion record player with EZ converter. It puts the song, artist, and album in properties but not in the order my car requires.
How do I change this in Monkey so matches what I need ?
Thanks, WP Steve

It more depends on what folder/file structure your car supports.

Only very newer car headunits support folder/filename sort and most of them use FAT (file system sort) which require additional steps to sort them in correct order.

I explained it some time ago under https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=13424 for future implementation.

You don't say what car radio you have, but you might check whether the manufacturer has a program that organizes music the way the radio wants it. Kenwood, for example, has Kenwood Music Editor Light which organizes things for my Kenwood radio. It has several options, allowing the user some choice in what the structure is.

Tools > Auto-Organize Files can edit the Filenames: https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index. ... enames/4.0

If you're using Sync you can set how the Filenames are written on the device in the Device Profile (Tools > Options > Portable Device Sync).

Hi,
You can make an easy test:
1. Use empty USB flash drive
2. Save three files to it z1.mp3, z2.mp3, z3.mp3
3. see if they play in order(remember order)
4. save forth file on usb and name it x1.mp3
5. see if they play in order z1,z2,z3,x1 or x1,z1,z2,z3
6. save fifth file z0.mp3
7. correct order should be x1,z0,z1,z2,z3
8. Use drive sort to sort them by filename
9. check if playback order changed.

Report here.
