MediaMonkey 4.1.1.1703 false positive from Norton AV

Hi,

As of Friday, Symantec/Norton antivirus began reporting MediaMonkey 4.1.1.1703 as testing positive for a virus/trojan. This note is just to let you know that:

a) We've verified that the version of MediaMonkey on our site corresponds to the version of MediaMonkey that was released a couple of weeks ago--i.e. it hasn't been tampered with. The MD5 checksum for the mediamonkey 4.1.1.1703 setup file is: 698d0ae16fa03cb3f900edeedd674eec

b) We've tested the build against Avast and other AV engines to confirm that there's no virus.

c) We've filed a false positive report with Norton/Symantec, so hopefully they'll fix this shortly.

UPDATE: On Sat. 5/12 5am Norton confirmed that they agree that this is a false positive and that the issue will be resolved in their next virus definition update.

Hi,

This problem occured to me again when installing 4.1 version.

The fix did not work for me. Both windows and Norton are blocking the download. I cannot update to version 4.1

Keep updating Norton!

You could also try re-downloading (clear browser cache first) and see if that is allowed by Norton.
