Hmm.. I'd have to go for instrumental music like Moonlight Sonata, and Chopin's Raindrop prelude. And game music such as SNES Secret of Mana ("Spirit of the Night", "Into the Thick of it", "Rose and Ghost", "I Won't Forget"), or the Amiga game Turrican 2 ("Traps" - level 2, and "Secret Dungeons"). Oh, and finally, stuff from the old TV anime "Mysterious Cities of Gold" - particularly "Les Olmèques" and "Le bouclier fumant". Nothing is scarier than those last two ;)

This one is a master piece and always give me the chills:

Blank & Jones, which normally do much harder music, have done an extraordinary good work with the most beautifully singing Sarah McLachlan's Angel.

Archive's 16 minutes version of their monster hit "Again" can never be wrong:

I'm voting for Engima & Sarah Brightman in "Eden."
Also, I'd have to say "Katy Song" by the Red House Painters.
In conclusion, I'm going with "Insight" by Depeche Mode.

Add to that "Strangers" from the Anime Wolf's Rain.

My musical taste is uh, well...

Both tracks take a minute to really warm up. The Suicide track is based on truth and the video is actually two videos superimposed on a screen to nice effect.

Throbbing Gristle - Discipline

Suicide - Frankie Teardrop

enjoy...

i have to ask this. since some of the songs listed sound like nice singers and some i like the singers.

so is this to be a thread about scary songs or songs that make you want to cuddle up.

i just don't see which way is the one this thread is to be. thanks for clearing it up?

I assume it refers to a song which, sometimes no matter how much you hear it, makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up for whatever reason, fear, longing, memories. Like the picture of the villager in Vietnam getting shot in the head, or the sailor kissing the nurse after WW2 ended, footsteps on the moon, JFK death footage, etc.

Tom Waits - Alice
Blue Oyster Cult - Don't Fear the Reaper
Golden Earring - Radar Love
Neil Young - Helpless (and After the Gold Rush)
John Denver - Sunshine on my Shoulder
Pedro the Lion - Priests and Paramedics

well in that case the song that still gets to me would be ? any song that is near the sad level, one of the most sad i guess would be by george jones. called the wall. or the one called "he stopped loving her today."
and of course the most favorite one is from hank Sr. called Singing waterfall.
the happiest upbeat one would have to go to the monkees and their theme song. hey hey were the monkees.
the crazyiest one would have to be the trashmen and surfin' bird

Chills as in tingling down the spine and hairs standing up on the neck.

Judy Collins with the acapella version of Amazing Grace

or

Rebekah Del Rio singing Orbison's Crying (Llorando) from the David Lynch film Mulholland Drive.
