yep i seen an album and heard a song or two of Lucinda Williams don't have any and can't remember the name of the one or two i heard. but know her name.

hows this for a forgotten band.

Crayon.

it was a rock band out of i think new york state? or road island ? back there some place. forgotten again ? :(
but the name is not forgotten.

how about the Mars Bars. that is an old band. i think only in the UK.

they are called "the monkees" look again at their logo. its got the as the handle to the guitar image.
so as part of the logo it makes it part of the name.

Fair warning, you will need to have high fidelity listening devices to appreciate Blackmores's Night. There is meaningful content in the extreme ranges of the music outside Apple's standard issue ear buds. Under a Violet Moon, keeps the beat with a softly hit bass drum. You will not hear the beat at all with most listening devices. You really want rare earth, in-the- ears but the rare earth magnet ear buds are a must. A music label would not allow something like that. Even though they live and record in Long Island they are a European New Age Band. They are popular in Europe and that is where they tour.

Lucinda has earned several Grammies, so she is not unknown. Rolling Stone rated West as one of the best albums of the year one year and is my favorite. I particularly like the fist track, "Are you all right?" She and Cowboy Junkies are a Country Western/Blues fusion. I don't prefer either genre but the fusion is beautiful.

not sure on the songs of the crayons i know they made one or two songs for commericals but can't remember them either?
must be just an group that is like the floors of the buildings always around but never seems to get noticed much until you
trip on it.

you have some mars bars songs i believe. they were made to change their name by the mars candy company. so they
changed it to Jerry and the pacemakers. i thought i'd catch some one on the use of their first name. didn't think it'd be you. :D

Three Dog Night, Shambala
Rick Springfield, talk to the sky
Ritchie Valens, La Bamba
Men at Work, Down Under
Jennifer Warrens, Right Time of the Night
Dr Hook, greatest hits cdrom.
The Pretenders, the great pretender
Jefforson Starship, (i think i have white rabbitt)

these are the ones you said i have and the songs i have of theirs.
don't know most the others you said.
only keith richards. and lots of the ones you listed he said.

I have a Gerry and the Pacemakers ...
and I think you mean the Platters, the great pretender. The Pretenders didn't have anyone with the range for that tune. It is about 3 octaves. I only big time artists to sing that one in public that I know about are Roy Orbison, Jackson Browne and Freddy Mercury. It is a real killer because you should belt out on some of the extreme notes.

I don't think I said anyone had the tunes. That is a bizarre and eclectic list. The only thing that was missing was the hard rock. Most hard rockers are well known enough except for the real early ones like some I listed or The Electric Prunes. Maybe not Molly Hatchet or Foghat.
Gary Glitter I don't know what I would call him pop I guess.

You have a nice music library.

oh i keep misspelling gerry to jerry.
got to go fix my tags on him again.

yep some list i do agree.

gary glitter is listed as glam rock in the UK.

glam rock is where they all tried to be the loudest dressed artist or band out there.
i think the king or queen of glam rock is david bowie.
i say that cause he got in some strange outfits that made him look
more she then he. :o he did some good songs though fame is 1 of them.

glam rock! That fits well. I bet that is what they call it in the US where I hail from. This is actually the most I have enjoyed a thread in many a month on many a board. I don't frequent this board much maybe I will need to drop in more often.

Out of all my picks check of Blackmores Night. Between a 1/3 and 1/2 the persons that listen to it really like them and can't believe they never heard of them. The rest don't like them. Check them out of youtube keeping in mind the music was made to be played on extremely hiFi.

i don't have a good hi fi on this i'd have to change it from the bit rate it is to what i can use,.

i was looking through that list you said keith richards had posted. i seen this time one name. hank williams sr.
i've got every one of his songs ever released.
and i've got them on cd's which equal about 9 in all. got more of hank jr's as he made more,

but i've got another song here
by another artist i've only seen this one song from and can't find any info about this artist. its a nice rock and roll peppy song done on the piano. kind of in jerry lee lewis's style of boogie and rock and roll.

name on the 45 rpm says artist is Ray Holliday, song is I feel Good that way.

does anyone know about this artist. its a great song i have no idea why its not listed any place online or he is not listed.
but man is it a fast beat song. about the same speed as great balls of fire when jerry lee is really pounding the keys..
it sounds like the keys are going to fall off the piano in the song they are being hit fast and hard.

now before you all get upset, i'm not that way... but the singers voice leads me to think he is black.
and kind of has a rougher ray charles voice. who knows it might be ray charles after a few drinks when he first started out
the 45 rpm is from the early 1960's to mid 1950's
not sure about it being him i'm just guessing from the sound and age of the record. i really wish some one here in the forum or searching on google that found this thread can tell me any info on person.

thanks. :D

Excellent List there my oldtimer.
I like the Reggae too.
For example Bob Marley - Exodus

Wow so many that I have myself and know well.
The names in your list made me think of these:

The Outlaws, High tide and Green Grass - try Poco - Rose of Cimarron
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADs4DkGTe2I

Men at Work, Down Under - try Men Without Hats - Safety Dance.

Leslie West, Mississippi Queen try Mountain - Nantucket Sleighride
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m99RWgxTOoM

Jefforson Starship, We Built This City on RockR&oll try Jefferson Starship - Miracles.

btw we no longer discuss the disgusting despicable paedophile G G litter.

Great list as well!! I meant to put Mississippi Queen on the first then the second but I kept forgetting.

If you like Bob, Jimmy Cliff had the same clear voice and was eclipsed by Bob. Desmond Decker had the same voice. He was very early. The Toots and Maytals were big in the late 60s early 70s. I really like UB40's Swing Low Sweet Chariot.

I thought I had all the Poco Albums (9) but never heard that tune.

I don't worship GG but he put out a few catchy tunes and he has been pretty much forgotten.

I think prefer Bob's version but I could be wrong about that one. I like the song no matter who sings it as long as the guy, I never heard a gal sing it, has a high clear voice.

Ever listen to Kitaro? He is not for everyone. Neo-classical new age with a dash of oriental thrown in. Nice to chill to if you are stressed and mentally fatigued.
