On your recommendation I just tried some Kitaro, a few in fact, but no not for me.
If I am gonna listen to that style of music then I prefer Mike Oldfield.
Or perhaps the Celtic new age such as David and Diane Arkenstone, or even - and here is one of my big underrated artists - Iona.

I don't have Bob Marley singing Red Red Wine. It was UB40's version I liked.

Calypso - Buster Poindexter Hot-Hot-Hot

My favorite Reggae album of all time is the Harder they Come double album compilation by Jimmy Cliff. He has about half the tunes. I think it was the first Reggae album to make it into the main stream music market in the US.

Any other genres?

Great Pick! I am not all that familiar with that genre but I do like Night Wish. I like strong, clear vocals backed by good music what ever the genre. I will need to check out your other picks.

Have you heard Sleepthief? It is a New Age Techno sound. The music is fairly diverse but the vocals are very Celtic in nature. He is a one man show that hires talent for each tune allowing him to be extremely diverse. They have a similar but much lighter sound than Night Wish but that is mostly due to the clear vocals.

Eurydice, Chauffeur and O Come O Come Emmanuel are my favorites.

What am I doing wrong with the links? I am just pasting the URL between the url beginning and end. That works in other forums but not here.

paste the link in the text box. put blank space for and aft of the link. then select all the blankspace and the link then bold it. the boldness will allow for easier clicking on the letters. the blank spaces make the link work because the brackets for the url will connect to the link and change it to
Code: Select all
http://......webpage.html
so that is what the dadgum thing is doing with them. just put that space between the brackets. :D

The proper way to use it is:

Code: Select all
Click me!

Which produces:
Click me!

If you just want to post the url, then post it without any formatting:
http://google.com

nohitter151 just posting the url with out the formating for bold is not easy to click on the link when viewed on
huge monitor size's, sure it makes a big font on small screens but that is not as bothersom as having small print on huge
screens.

Very interesting list.
Many of my fav artists there - plus some I do not care for.
Tell me, when selecting the song were you governed by what you could find on uTube or are these songs particular favs of yours.

I think your ears hear the artefacts of a track more than mine do.
When I talk to a musician they always mention a particular passage that is remarkable or difficult to play.

Did you get a chance to listen to Iona..

thanks musicbringer i just got time to check these. the first you posted is to a gospel singer's web site that happens
to have the same name of the guy i was looking for.

the song link to the blog is the one i was after am sorry to say though its 32 years too late he died in 1978 according
to that blog site.

but they had a photo of the 45 rpm of his song so i know its the right guy from that.

Talking of Ritchie Blackmore - you know he played session guitar on many 1960s tracks such as:
Heinz - Just Like Eddie - 1963 Joe Meek's production feat. Ritchie Blackmore

Yes, he was also in the Outlaws at about that time or at least by the early 60s. He sure doesn't look as old as he is. I some how feel comforted that someone that old is able to create radically different music and that is extremely good. His production skills are certainly first rate. I can say with out a doubt his new music is the best recordings I have ever heard. I don't think the artists hear their own music that clearly. You can hear a finger brush the side of his guitar when it does. One other early recordings come to my mind. Cat Stevens of all persons had some exceptional recordings. They were well ahead of that era. At that same time you have Elton John and Billy Joel producing music that can be perfectly captured on 128 BR.

I have really enjoyed your picks. I will continue with blues guitar greats in a while.

Some of both most of those are from my original list. I am really not into Jazz, out of the great Jazz guitarists I really only like Metheny. I prefer fusion jazz and don't care for original jazz. I like Weather Report and Chuck Mangeone. Old Jazz has no sparkle or life to for my taste. Still they are guitar greats mostly forgotten. It is difficult to see the skill of something you do not enjoy. For the classical guitar I picked the tune because all three had the same tune on youtube. I like the Blues a bit more that Jazz but I will pick out some greats vs my favorites.

As far as artifacts, no I just may have better listening devices. I have a few pare of fairly cheap but have amazing performance ear buds. Without ultra HiFi you can't heard the difference. I have some of the best book shelf speakers ever made. I never knew the Cat Stevens early recordings were so good till I heard them with ultra HiFi ear buds. That is when Blackmore's Night stands out. I am sure he uses mics with rare earth magnets. Now all my serious listening is done with ear buds.

No, I had not listened to Iona yet. Actually, that sub genre is one of my favorites. I have a good collection of the Arkenstones. I will definitely listen to them when I am not so rushed.
