Flagrant use of the quote button

Post by trixmoto »

This is a pet-peve of mine. I don't wish to cause offence, I just wish to be less annoyed.

If you are replying to the last post in a thread, why quote it? People reading the thread will read it. In a normal conversation do you always start you contribution by repeating what was last said? No!

If you are referring to something higher up in the thread, out of the logical order of the conversation, this is when the quote button should be used.

Like I say, I don't wish to cause offence. It just seems stupid when people pointlessly lengthen threads and make everyone read everything twice.

ADDITION: From Bex's lightbulb topic: 13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too" - please don't be one of these people!
