Need a good MP4 to MP3 converter

I looked for a MP4 to MP3 converter on various software download sites and downloaded a few of them. But when I install them, each and every one of them has something that comes with it - and mandatory. The ones that I downloaded did not have an option to uncheck the box and install the converter only.

If anyone knows about one that comes without compulsory toolbars or associated software, please post about it here and where to get it. Free is preferred, although a good cheap one is also ok.

Is there a reason you need to convert to MP3? The MP4 codec retains better audio quality than MP3 so unless you have an old portable device that can't play MP4 I recommend you keep the files as they are.

The MediaMonkey codec pack is cheap and by far the easiest if you're already using MediaMonkey. Just select all the tracks you want to convert, right click --> Send to --> Folder (Rip/Convert) and it will convert all of the files in one operation.

Audacity is a completely free audio editing software that can be used for batch conversions, but it is slower and the output files might lose their tags.

Cloud Convert is an online solution which doesn't require you to install any software and will convert between a large array of file formats. It has two free tiers and can be used without registering but limits the amount of conversion you can do per day. It also integrates with Dropbox, Google Drive, Box, and One Drive so you don't have to manually download the converted files if you use any of these services.

Hi jessiedana,

VLC Media Player will convert MP4 to MP3 however I believe it can only convert one file at a time. I have used it to rip audio from video documentaries so I can listen to them on my portable MP3 player. It's possible it might do batch conversion but I never tried.

VLC does not install cr*pware or sneaky browser toolbars.

Look no further. This is what you seek:
HERE

btw - there's nothing wrong with mp3 as long as you are 192br or higher (fairly small sizes and compatibility can't be beat)
If you want to use mp4/m4a and are having compatibility issues try installing quicktime (but use MM).

What part of it isn't free didn't you get? Sometimes you pay for what you get. I said it was the best I have found and i like to work with the best. That is why i use MMW for what it does and other products for what they do.

I tried to install it and it strated asking money. I think there's some problem with the trial.

FYI: I just know that freemake does the same for free. or handbrake.

In some odd or strange way? It's not that odd or uncommon for the trial period version of a program to mention the trial period/or purchase cost
when installing or to have a nag message about it.
