Auto-conversion check if file is on pod then skip

Ages ago I used Music Match as it had an on the fly auto-conversation tool. However I soon got rid of it when I noticed that it would resample a song before checking if it existed on my iPod. This meant that adding a couple of songs took hours.

Can someone confirm that auto-convert will skip a file if it sees that it already exists on an iPod BEFORE it starts converting?

Can anyone confirm the behaviour here? Would like to understand this before purchasing the full package.

MM should have this functionality but people have complained that it doesn't work correctly. I'm not sure as I don't use this feature.
