Ipod won't recognise any tunes - please help!

I'm having a shocker synching a new Ipod classic.

As advised on MM I unchecked Itunes so it wouldnt automatically open when my ipod plugs in. I then opened my ipod in media moneky and synched a playlist of around 4000 tunes.

This took a fair while but on my ipod in MM the tunes were shown so all looked positive. Then when the ipod was removed it couldnt see any music files (despite ipod memory being used as "other").

I tried the "Rebuild Database" and this didnt work so I reset the Ipod to factory settings in itunes, changed settings to enable compatibiliy settings then re-synced and again it wont recognise the files!?

Anyone have any advice for me? Your help would be really appreciated.
