Cannot sync Creative Zen Vision:M 60GB

Cannot sync Creative Zen Vision:M 60GB
Media Monkey will no longer sync tracks to the player. This was working fine; now... not at all.
Thanks in advance for your help.
SYMPTOMS:
- MTP Device node is visible and navigable in Music Explorer Tree.
- Right click MTP Player node > Auto-sync
- A task bar shows up at the bottom of the screen with "Synchronizing MTP Device: (Preparing list of tracks)", and disappears in less than 1 second
- No content on the player is changed
SETUP:
Windows XP SP2
Media Monkey 3.0.2.1134
Creative ZEN Vision:M 60GB as MTP Device
In the device properties window ("Device Profile: MTP Device"):
- Auto-Sync list tab > Music tab
The proper folder under "Location" is checked. All music sub-folders are checked.
- Auto-Sync list tab > Playlists tab
All desired playlists are checked
- Device configuration tab
Sync tracks to: \Music\<Artist> - <Album> - <Track#> - <Title>
I've tried about every possible option here; none work.
- Music\<Artist>\<Album>\<Track#> - <Title>
- \Music\<Artist>\<Album>\<Track#> - <Title>
- <Artist>\<Album>\<Track#> - <Title>
- \<Artist>\<Album>\<Track#> - <Title>
Copy playlists: tried both checked and unchecked
Destination directory: \My Playlists\

I had a similar problem, what I did was delete the device from the Audio/Devices section, closed MM, restarted and then went in a reset up the configuration.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, your suggestion did not work. I'm still experiencing the same behavior.nynaevelan wrote:I had a similar problem, what I did was delete the device from the Audio/Devices section, closed MM, restarted and then went in a reset up the configuration.
Here's what I did:
- Closed MediaMonkey
- Connected player to computer
- Using Windows Explorer, deleted all files in Music folder
- Disconnected player, then hit Reset on player
- Started MediaMonkey
- Deleted MTP Device from Tools menu > Options > Portable/Audio Devices
- Connected player
- Confirmed appearance of MTP Device node in Music Explorer Tree
- Clicked Tools menu > Options > Portable/Audio Devices > MTP Device > Configure
--- Auto-Sync list tab
------ Music tab: Selected 1 File location (3122 files, 21.6 GB)
------ Playlists tab: Selected 38 playlists
--- Auto-Sync options tab
------ Auto-Sync as soon as the device is connected: checked
------ Delete Tracks that aren't on Auto-Sync list: checked
------ Confirm deletion: unchecked
--- Device configuration tab
------ Left default sync path: \Music\<Album Artist>\<Album>\<Title>
------ Copy playlists: checked
------ Changed destination directory to \My Playlists\
(I think this is specific to Zen Vision:M player)
- Disconnected player
- Reconnected player

Nothing is syncing. The task bar at the bottom of the window shows "Synchronizing MTP Device: (Preparing list of tracks)" for less than one second, then disappears. Afterwards, the player is in the same state as before
It would be nice if the Media Monkey software gave me something more to go on, instead of a failing silently. Any idea how I might debug this?

Thanks for the link. I created a synchronization log as suggested by your link, and have sent it to support@mediamonkey.com. I'll report back as to what happens.
SOLUTION: Upgraded to 3.0.3.1170
In 3.0.3.1170, auto-sync works as expected.
Hate to admit it, but it appears this problem was self-inflicted. I *think* I was originally running MediaMonkey 3.0.3.1140. However, I upgraded several software apps on my laptop recently, and I (must have) unintentionally installed MediaMonkey 3.0.2.1134. Hence why this was "working fine" but then broke.
Thanks to nynaevelan for your help debugging!

Don't you just hate when that happens? Trust me, it's happened to me too many times to count, hence my obsession with backups.BrandonK wrote:Hate to admit it, but it appears this problem was self-inflicted..

I can browse by folder and because my music is on my player by genre, I have that option also, but if either of those two do not meet my needs, I use Windows Explorer. But is very rare that I do any browsing on my player in any mode except by genre or playlist.
For me, my player needs are very simple. I want to be able to
1. sync from MM to my player in the folder structure I want
2. sync using autosync or manual sync and have all my playlists remain intact.
3. sync music and playlists from my player to MM
4. it would be nice to one day be able to use MM to sync my videos but for now I prefer to keep my videos outside of MM. (it is hard enough trying to keep my audio files intact without confusing the issue with video files). Although when MM introduces that functionality I will most likely just have a secondary installation of MM for videos. Although this could be accomplished using filters, I already have too many filters for my audio files without adding more for video files.
I don't use any of the other features for my Zen, such as deleting, converting or rating on the Zen itself.
