Sansa Fuze Sync Problem - Multiples of a song

Postby Mark Snyder » Fri Dec 02, 2011 9:29 pm

I have a problem with syncing my Sansa Fuze that doesn't seem to have been covered here before. I am using autosync, and have a selection of playlists and albums defined in a profile using the recommendations for this device. The problem is that when I look at an album, I seem to be getting multiple copies of a single song. I think that this may be due to me having both the album containing the song, and a playlist calling for this song within the autosync set. I've spent time doublechecking the settings and looking for anything to eliminate this, but haven't had any luck. Has anyone had this problem before or does anyone have any idea how to cure the problem? Thanks.

No, that definitely should not occur. The auto-sync is intelligent enough to sync each file only one time, but reference the file under each artist/playist/etc. Are you sure the library doesn't have duplicates or that you maybe didn't auto-sync? Because duplicates can appear when you do the manual pick and choose method of syncing.

I'm sure that the library doesn't have duplicates, because these are some semi-obscure artists that I only have one source for in my library, and when I go under the album on the MP3 player, it shows multiple copies of the same song.

When synchronizing my player, after connecting it I manually choose "sync device" from the menu, with "auto-synchronize" checked lower down in the menu. Are you saying that this is incorrect, and that I need to tell it to auto-sync some other way? Do I have to define it to automatically synchronize when the device is connected? I've done this a couple of times since I noticed the problem and it isn't deleting the duplicates.

No, that's the right way to do it. I don't know what it could be, but maybe you should just clear the whole device and resync from scratch.

I'll give it a shot on Monday, when I get to my main setup on my work computer. Thanks for the info. I'll let you know what happens.

I realized that I forgot to post the results here. Cleaning and reloading everything onto my player cleared up the problem. I guess it was a gremlin hiding in there fore some reason. Thanks for the confirmation and suggestion.
