tracks not visible on iPod Classic

Postby Eric Pro » Mon Apr 02, 2012 2:52 pm

I use MM 4.03 and connected my iPod Classic, software version 1.1.2. Tracks already copied earlier to my iPod Classic (with iTunes) are visible in MM tracklist, but I cannot find&play tracks copied from MM to the iPod. Followed all instructions (settings in iTunes and in MM, database rebuilt), but I cannot check the box 'Force iTunes-style Folders', because it is not displayed in MM 4.03 (anymore?) in de device configuration tab. What can I do now?
Thanks! Eric

Same problem with my player on Samsung Galaxy S2 (mp3 tracks on memory card): tracks are copied to memory card (visible in Windows Explorer), but are not recognized in Samsung mp3-player. I followed a suggestion tot downgrade to MM4.02.1462, but no success...

Back again, reporting that I installed an even earlier version of MM: 3.2.5.1306. And yes, there is the checkbox "force itunes-style folders"!! Checked the box, copied a few tracks to the iPod, disconnected the device and ... yes, they're on the list of the iPod Classic! :D Even more surprising; the tracks I copied yesterday - but until now not visible - are also displayed! So, my conclusion is that MM4.0+ is not working properly (that is: with my configuration). Until this is fixed in MM4.02+ I use the old version. Strange :-?

I also do not show this option: (Force itunes style folders) with MM4 for Ipod Nano 5th and 6th Gen.

That option was removed in MM4, so itunes style folders are always forced on those devices.

Removing this option is incredibly frustrating, as it worked just fine. What was the last build where it was available and can I still download it?

I'd say MediaMonkey 3:

Thanks for the link.

I really hope they rethink removing this option. I know the reasoning is that current ipods don't support this, but I don't think the ipod classic has changed in years, in which case a current ipod *does* support this. When I found MM, I was very happy that a program gave me control and the flexibility that itunes lacked. With that flexibility removed, for me there is no benefit over itunes.

Only very old models of iPod will work without the itunes style folders.

If you are talking about a modern iPod classic (eg. capacity over 40 GB) then the device will not recognize any tracks with a different folder system.

Running MM 4.0.6 and I have an iPod Classic 120 gig.

I have a possibly related problem? When I sync my library, most of my tracks are visible, but some artists aren't visible, though the tracks are on the ipod and playable if you search by album or song title. I'm kind of at a loss?

Are both Artist and Album Artist properly tagged in MediaMonkey?
