iPod playlists and duplicate files

Postby RDUB56 » Tue Apr 03, 2012 10:04 am

Forgive me if this has been answered in a previous post, but I couldn't find the answer.

I'm currently using MM and an iPod Classic. If I create a playlist in MM, and sync to the iPod, the list and all of the contained music files are transferred to the iPod. Any of those songs which already exist on the iPod are duplicated.

For example, I have some Diana Krall albums that are on a playlist called Sunday Jazz. I also like to listen to her albums, and every song on the playlist now plays twice. I have the same problem if I include a song in more than one playlist, which I also would like to do.

Is there any way to avoid this?

That is because you are doing a manual sync or "Sync selected" instead of auto-sync.

Thanks for the reply. So what all gets transferred when auto sync is enabled? Can I set the parameters? I have a VERY large music collection, and I don't want all of it on my iPod.
