MM can only see my S2 for a second at a time!

I have been using MM for ages now with no real issues....until now!

I just connect my S2 to the PC using a usb cable...this would automatically synch in with MM, I would transfer my files and that was that.

Now, MM sees the phone for about a second and then disconnects, it repeats this until I give up and unplug the phone.

Any ideas why it has suddenly stopped working?

Does Windows Explorer or another application also have this problem (indicating it is a device/cable/connection issue)?
