RIP/Convert to USB stick Unsupported Honda CRV 2012
Posted: Wed Oct 24, 2012 11:45 am
The Short Story on getting a stick to work on 2012 baseline Honda CRV (Please, no Tremendous Perception for the obvious comments)
Send To / Rip/Convert to your Hard drive
advanced options
use -strict ISO Compliance
do not use -bit reservoir
MP3 Tags
Use only ID3V2 tags
ID3V2 tags in Ascii only
CBR or VBR at near 256 bit (high quality)
Rip to your hard drive first, then copy folders over to FAT disks.
If you do this, you may run into the following error from Windows 7 when pasting onto the stick.
x80070057: the parameter is incorrect
A google search shows that this happens with a number of different products and procedures, most notably, Windows Backup and Restore. When I say skip the copy for this file, the stick has been working fine.
I do not know what DLL was used.
Note, the dll used when burning to FAT32 was d_WMDM.dll and I think it was either that or d_USBMassl.dll for FAT? It shows up under devices.
I do not know what dll is used when burning to a hard disk?

=======================================
Problem--
I have tried 5 different usb sticks , 3 of which say unsupported, one of which briefly gave me a folder list then reverted to unsupported and one which plays fine.
I have flac and mp3 files
Process --
I want to create a 4GB usb stick for my 2012 Honda CRV
format it as FAT32
I create folders that will contain all the files in a playlist
Select a playlist
Send to
Folder (Rip/Convert)
Convert to (Disk Letter of attached USB stick)
I change the destination to be drive letter :\ Custom 1 \Auto Number Title
example I:\playlist1\000Hold on, I'm Comin'.mp3
Settings --
Do not add content to library
to not level track volume
Format MP3
Settings Use Preset Extreme VBR ~256-Near CD quality
Use Advanced Settings
Not sure what how this operates?
For example, when I use the Extreme VBR preset with the Use Advanced Settings
What do the bit reservoir and STRICT ISO Compliance checkboxes do?
Scenario 1
If you added files to Library with Tags
Options set
Library
Tags & Playlists
Store MP3 file properties using ID3v1 + ID3V2
id3v2 text encoding Ascii + UTF 16 (when needed)
I now want to rip convert to
MP3 files using ID3v1 (or maybe id3v2) text encoding Ascii only
What do I have to do to get this done?
I don't know how the options affect the current flac and mp3 files?
What want to do is change what happens when I rip and convert
