Syncing an Samsung Galaxy S7 problems

Post by teejayuu »

Hi all,

I am new to Media Monkey and am having some issues syncing my library to my phone. The only way I seem to be able to 'sync' my music is to use Windows Explorer to copy it from the HDD to the Phone. Once on the phone not all play counts are synced, for instance tracks played on Thursday are there as are track that were played on Saturday afternoon noon, but none from Friday. ?To save space on my SD Card I'd like to embed cover art into the track on the device, but leave the folder.jpg on the HDD of my PC - is this possible?

These are the settings I'm currently using:

Auto-Sync (-->Device)
Collections - Music
Choose which files to keep synced: Location C:\Users\Tony\Music
Delete other files and playlists from the device: Unselected library files
Confirm deletion (recommended)

Auto-Sync (-->Library)
Auto-Sync new file and playlists from the device to the PC: Music folder on SD Card
Confirm updates (recommended)
Auto-sync metadata from the device to the PC

Options - Auto conversion
Convert the following format when synchronizing: Defaults

Options - File Locations
Sync files to: \Music\<Folder:3>\<Filename>
Enforce use of sync mask for files already on device

Options - Tagging
Copy Artwork to file tags
Use only the first Genre when multiple Genres exist

Options - Playlists
Sync playlists (recommended)
Use Unicode (UTF-8 encoding)

This is really difficult after using an iPod and iTunes, is there something I need to be doing different?
Thanks
Tony

What problem do you have syncing and which version of MediaMonkey are you using?

If you copy files from Windows Explorer no play history will be maintained. Only MMW <> MMA syncing does that. Many prefer wifi sync as Android MTP drivers on Windows often cause problems for programs accessing the device.
