Hi all,

I'm at a loss with this issue. I always had this problem and its been driving me nuts.

I have an IPod nano 7th gen, that i use to listen to podcasts. I mostly use my phone now because of this synchronization issue.

I have the latest MM version 4.1.18.1853 portable mode, running from a USB drive where I keep it with the podcast files.

I created a playlist and i added the mp3 files from the podcast that i want to synch. On the auto-synch settings i have this playlist selected synch.

I plug the nano and select synch, I see the message of the new files copying.

I can select the playlist on the nano and see the files. When I disconnect the nano, the new files are not there.

If i rename the playlist on MM and re-synch the new playlist shows up on the nano with all the files. the old playlist is still also on the nano with the missing files.

Hope this explains it. let me knw if anyone has a fix for this.

Thanks you in advance.

Thanks for the reply.

Those instructions didn't work for me. BTW I don't have iTunes installed.

So i rebuilt the database then copied a new mp3 file to the playlist that is set to auto-sync, i clicked the sync button and saw the progress copying the file to the iPod.
ejected the iPod. then looked at the playlist on the ipod and the new file is not there. on he ipod playlist in media monkey it shows the file. i rebuilt the database again, nothing. :(

Hi, I've just tested with my iPod Nano 7G (Model MD481HC, Version 1.0.4. PC) and I don't observe this issue.
Tested MMW 4.1.18.1853 and 4.1.19.1857 and the podcast episode added to a playlist is correctly uploaded upon next Auto-sync and is appearing on the device (in the playlist and via Podcasts).
Is it that in your case the episode just isn't available in the [Music > Playlist] or it is missing also when browsing using [Podcasts] ?

What's you Model/FW, if FW is lower than 1.0.4 you might want to download iTunes and upgrade your FW version?

Thank for your reply,

Model MD477LL version 1.0.2 PC

The file shows up under podcasts, but not under the playlist.

This is how I'm doing the synch.

I update the subscribed podcasts and download the new file.
Then i drag the file to the playlist that is supposed to synch.
I plug the ipod and click synch button.
I see the copying message. (new file shows up in the ipod playlist in MM)
I eject the ipod.
File i not on the ipod playlist. but i see it in the podcast folder in the ipod.

Thanks for the help.

I downloaded and installed iTunes and was able to upgrade the firmware to 1.0.4. I then uninstalled iTunes
However the same issue continues. I dropped a new podcast to the Playlist folder and when I press the synch the file copies to the ipod.
The file does not show on the ipod playlist but shows on the podcast section.

Sorry for the delay, I installed iTunes and updated the ipod, I then uninstalled iTunes and tried synch test again. same issue. :(

I would like to add, that if i create a new playlist and set this new playlist to synch when I plug the ipod the new playlist is copied to the device as expected. If i rename the playlist that is supposed to synch the new name shows up with all the expected podcasts on the device. BUT if the playlist has been synched already and exists on the device any new podcasts added do not show up on the device playlist.

Thanks.

Hi, I don't see this, but I wonder:

a) Does this issue happen also if you right-click the playlist in MediaMonkey and select menu Send to > iPod ?

b) Is it specific really to podcast episodes or any new tracks added to the playlist fails to update the playlist on the iPod ?

a) "Send to" works, it just sends all the files on the playlist instead of just the news ones.

b) I created a music playlist and it seems to synch as expected. Then i tried podcasts again and it now works as expected, adding and remocing podcasts from the playlist updates the iPod playlist. :o

I guess something we did made it work now...I will remove the music playlist to see if this keeps working.

Thank you for your help.

Note: I removed the newly created playlists and the podcast playlist is updating nicely when i add and remove podcasts then click the synch button. I don't know how this got fix but its a huge relief :D

I'm afraid this thing broke again, the next time i wanted to add more podcasts ipod and MM are back to not updating.

I do notice MM shows 2 ipods sometimes, sometimes it shows one then the other. sometimes both at a time:
IPOD (1) (F:)
iPod Nano (F:)

IPOD (1) (F:) shows

> MediaMonkey
> Music
> Playlists
> Synchedplaylist

iPod Nano (F:)

> Audiobooks
> Podcasts
> Playlists
> List of old playlist that should have been deleted

Any way to format the ipod and start from scratch? preferable without installing itunes.

Hi, the IPOD (1) (F:) is the iPod recognized as USB memory stick (syncing playlists M3U files), the IPOD (1) (F:) shouldn't be there and shouldn't be used at all.

1) Go to Options > Portable Device Sync and locate "IPOD (1)" , is there d_WMDM.dll plugin? If yes, then disable the plugin (uncheck the checkbox under the first "Show" column), this will cause that only the other one and correct profile (iPod Nano |d_iPod.dll) will be shown.

2) It would be useful to temporary enable both again and catch it in debug log so that I could see why only the one profile isn't shown. It is item 4b here: http://forum.mediamonkey.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=69 -- just ensure that the DbgView app is started prior to MediaMonkey
