Rockbox-like scrobbling addon

Post by reno812 » Tue Nov 13, 2012 2:31 pm

I work at a place where I have very limited internet access due to the nature of what I do. That proved to be a huge problem when trying to scrobble my music automatically through any app, and I'm sure many people with restrictive corporate firewalls will relate to this. My solution was to create my own MM addon that would create rockbox style log files and then later at home I would upload it to sites like Scroblr (http://scroblr.net) to update my Last.FM profile.

I didn't start from scratch though, I remember using MonkeyTools as a starting point. I've been using this setup for over a year on my semi-isolated work PC and I realize that some people in my same situation could benefit from it too. I guess what I'm trying to say here is, how on earth should I share this addon? Not sure what to include, how to package it and whatnot.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

You can submit Addons here: http://www.mediamonkey.com/addon_system/admin/

You should package it as MMIP so it is easier to install for users: http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... n_Packages

Thanks for sharing.

PS. I wonder if you could do the same with cache log MM creates when it can't scrobble?

Thank you very much for the link, that was exactly what I was looking for. I'm going to prepare my stuff for submission, hopefully it won't take that long.

Sounds like an interesting idea, I'm thinking that it might be fun to explore that once I publish my addon as it is right now. We'll see.

Hey, I was wondering... My plugin actually needs to include an EXE file and execute it during installation and then execute a couple of VBS as well. Those VBS depend on the EXE to be executed before they can actually be copied into the scripts folder, so I'm kind of confused here.
