It is confusing, and I try to learn as much as I can from the forum before I ask questions.

But now I have another question. Is a .txt file the same as id3v2? ML only seems to have LRC and text files to choose from when downloading. LRC must be the synched file. I thought text was the unsynched but those are the ones that show up as not being embedded.

If the .txt files are not being embedded, why would I continue to use ML instead of something else? Seems like a lot of extra work. I have even tried to save the text file by right-clicking, choosing Lyrics/Save lyrics in mp3/choosing ANSI (by the way, does it matter if I choose ANSI or Unicode?)/and then the appropriate id3v2 or v3. I get an error saying the process could not be done as the mp3 is being used by something else. I'm guessing that is because it is being played, but OMG who has time for all of that???

Thank you again for your help. Guess I will keep searching for a lyrics embedder.

No. txt files are regular files that you would save if, for example, you were to type something out in notepad and then save. lrc files, by contrast are files that are essentially the same as txt files, but the lrc extension indicates that timestamps are included in the file (so that when minilyrics reads them, the lyrics will be synchronized.)

txt files can be embedded, but only to the ID3v2 unsynchronized tag. When you right click, choose 'lyrics/save lyrics in mp3', you'll always see that error (it's not really an error, but a warning). Since minilyrics can't make the change to the file (because MediaMonkey is already accessing it), Minilyrics is just saying that it will make the change to the file once the file is no longer being accessed (so basically when another song begins to play).

I've tried almost everything, and I've found Minilyrics to be the best option IMO. That is of course, if you like the synchronized lyrics. If you just want static lyrics, with a panel to view them in, Lyricator + Gege's lyrics and comment viewer is probably the best option.

Thank you again for your precise and easy to understand explanations. I guess I will have to begin the process of saving lyrics to the mp3. Might be something to do while watching football this weekend.

I have learned a lot more about this amazing Media Monkey and still love it.

OK, I've messed with ML tonight and it is saving to the mp3 just fine, thank you.

Which of course brings a couple more questions. What do you do about instrumentals? I didn't see anything in the ML help or "Files to Edit" nodes. I suppose if it really bothers me I could put something in the lyrics tab, huh?

What about how to save; ANSI or Unicode? I don't want to do it one way and then find out it needed to be the other.

Thanks again.

For instrumental tracks I just put [Instrumental] as the lyrics. As far as ANSI or Unicode, it doesn't really matter. You really only need Unicode if you are saving the lyrics in a language that isn't english.

Might also be best to move any further questions to a PM or to a new topic on the board since we've gotten a bit off topic.

so what are you guys using to download and embed lyrics automatically? Trixmoto, I wanted to use your lyric-embedding script but your website only has it listed for MM2.

Yeah, sorry. Some scripts haven't quite made it to MM3 yet!

"Lyric Timer" only imports from EvilLyrics though so there are now much more powerful scripts, as mentioned above.

Is that the third time you've had to write that in this short, informative thread?! lol

I have a question. Presumably there's no way to have MediaMonkey find tracks that do not have synchronized lyrics? I have used Lyricator before so now many tracks have static lyrics but not synchronized lyrics.

MiniLyrics doesn't automatically search for lyrics if the track already has any lyrics in the tag - is that right? So you have to click the search button to force MiniLyrics to get find the .lrc lyrics. Can you confirm that that is correct, please? I'd like to be able to force MiniLyrics to look for lyrics even if the tag has static lyrics (but not if it already has LRC lyrics ... just to be greedy!!!).

If that's not possible, a node (or playlist or whatever) to show tracks without LRC lyrics would be very helpful.

Unfortunately, :P .

I'm not sure if scripts actually have the ability to look for tags that MediaMonkey can't read itself - if not then of course there'd be no way that a script could do this. And you're right, ML won't auto-download lyrics if it detects that the track already has any type of lyrics associated with it.

Trixmoto,

I have made minor changes in your Missing Lyrics script to look for lyric files in a specific folder instead of looking in the tags. (A song by one composer is sung many singers; and so, I do not want to maintain multiple versions in different tracks. MonkeyRok will look for lyric file in that folder based of song name & scale, and then display it.)

Could I post the changes I made?

thanks.

Yes you can post the changes (in a separate thread with a link to this one) - I'm sure other people will find it useful.
