The Same Content node is really identical files. i.e. true copies of files is found here.

RobertSmith wrote:But I want search entire library (compare Temp with My Colletion), but only delete files in Temp.

Create a filter containing your temp directory and use "Create Keep/Delete Suggestion Nodes". In the Delete node check that the path really is your temp-directory before you delete them.

I want to transfer rating do I have to use the copy function first? Or can the transfer/deleting (incl playerStat and rating tag) be done in step.

The rating can currently not be automatically copied/transferred from files you delete to the ones you want to keep. The reason for this is that it can exist many copies to delete that have different ratings. Which one should be used?

I only working with one file while testing but it looks like MM hangs while deleting one file.

How do you delete it?

I use Custom Duplicate Search but I don't use the keep/delete suggestions nodes. I click on one of track nodes to show duplicates in right window. Copy MetaData from the track that I want to delete and paste MetaData to the one I want to keep. In the configure Copy/Paste MetaData AutoAction I check delete Actions - I want to decide later in a Confirmation Dialogue. When I click on OK, status changes to reading tracks... and I can't search my library (the only tracks in right windows is from "duplicate nodes"). I have to restart to see the entire library (Alt-Ctrl delete). If I do it in two steps, first copy/paste/merge and when remove it works perfect (maybe this is the right way to do it...)

Bex/Robert:
I have switched to using MusicIP (Library->1. List Duplicates) to find duplicates. It can reliably, and quickly, find duplicate music content regardless of encoding or leading/trailing silence in the track. It also reliably separates different recordings of the same track by the same artist (e.g. live concert vs original album studio recording). There is a required overhead of first running analysis on the tracks, but, If you archive analysis to file tags this survives any file re-organization. It also makes other tools, such as Picard, much more useful.

MM exact duplicate content is next to useless. I tried it and any changes in meta-tags, e.g. rating, will break the file CRC.

Now, if only MM provided a way to access arbitrary meta-tags.

Until then I have a copy of MUSICIP PUID stored in Composer (accessible in this script and I don't use it ;) ). I like this script since it's so easy to copy/merge stat. I don't know if that is possible in MusicMixer.

Is it possible to have an option for Case Sensitive so that you could find duplicates with different typo like (Radio Edit) and (radio edit) using the Composer (Music IP).

Robert, how did you get
a)"MusicIP PUID" tag loaded reliably. MusicIP archives "MusicIP Fingerprint" but not "MusicIP PUID". Picard Scan followed by Save does load "MuiscIP PUID". Is there a better/faster solution?

b)Load the extended tag to Composer. I am looking into doing it with a Perl script, but, if there is available way of doing it already I would be interested.

Composer tag is not a good target for me. I have extensive real composer data loaded already. MM custom tag is another possibility but MM's implementation does not seem to be portable to other applications, e.g. MP3Tag.

Hmm, I cant replicate this behaviour. However, it has been some problem reports if the tracks are stored on a NAS. Where do you store your files?

This feature only works well for MP3 files since only then is the ID3 tag ignored when calculating the file fingerprint. For all other filetypes is it unfortunately considered making it, as you say, next to useless...

NAS? I use a 1TB Western external (USB) HDD (NTFS).

(NAS=Network Attached Storage)
That might be the explanation then. I wrote this a while ago:
There has been three reports that Copy/Paste Metadata doesn't work as it should when an USB-attached Drive is storing the tracks. Many efforts has been done to find the problem but nothing has been found. So if you have such drive let me know if it works or not. If you're having problems with this please try the latest MM 3.1 version and post a debug-log of when it happens. Nothing can be done to fix the problem otherwise. Thanks!

It would be great if you could do this:

Script is updated!
Ver 3.5.1 (2009-07-06)
- Added Custom1-5 in both "Custom Duplicate Search" and "Find More From Same"
- Fixed a bug in "Custom Duplicate Search". It wasn't possible to use Size in Folder mode.
- Fixed a bug in "Find More From Same". Searching for blank values wasn't possible.

Note that this version also changes the format of its settings if a previous version is found. The settings are stored in the MediaMonkey.ini file, back it up before you upgrade, since there is no backward compatibility from this version.

As usual, bug-reports, suggestions and comments are most welcome!

Using 1280x768 display, the Find More From Same and Custom Duplicate Search dialogs are cut off by task bar.

Changed Task Bar properties to auto-hide to see full dialog.
