One of the tagging inconsistencies shows a result that is not always what I expect.

I have a compilation album with the same album artist ("various"). Some songs appear twice, but from different artists. One songs is twice on the album (same title and same artist). I would expect that the "tagging inconsistencies" only shows this 1 double song. That is indeed how the mask generally behaves.

When I select "Albums with ...", "Same artist and track titles" - it shows the expected number of troubled albums (1 on my library).
When I open this album, it shows the expected number of troubled songs (having the same artist and track title), which is 2. Indeed 2 songs on this album have the same title and artist.

However, the node shows 7 troubled songs. Indeed there are 7 songs which appear more than once on this album, but only 1 of them appears twice with the same artist.

Could it be that the songs list does not compare "artist", but "album artist" (whereas the other levels compare "artist")?

TI reports certain files as not having album art, whereas they clearly do have it.

The album node that is highlighted says that there are 20 tracks for that album, but there's only 1 track listed under it. Have you applied a filter or something?

No this is the standard script.
Note that there is one album (just above the open one) that shows all (but one...) tracks, but several albums only show one track. All these tracks do really have album art.
Note also that this did not happen in MM3. That's why I posted this issue originally in the Beta forum.

Let me know if there is anything I could try, or if you need any additional information.

Hi folks

Wonder if you can help with a prob with MM4 and TI. Using TI has been a great help in tidying up my MM database, but I've now got a prob I cannot solve. (its the only Inconsistency left showing)

I have an Entry as follows

THE Inconsistencies (6)

with three sub nodes

CHOIR OF KING'S COLLEGE CAMBRIDGE (1)
The Choir of King's College Cambridge (1) (Artist)

JOHANN STRAUSS ORCHESTRA (304)
The Johann Strauss Orchestra (304) (Artist, Album Artist)

NITTY GRITTY DIRT BAND (112)
The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (112) (Artist, Album Artist)

In each case, the number shown represents ALL the tracks by that artist, and in the latter two, the Album Artist & Artist both show the name the same with the "The". I cut and pasted from one to the other to ensure they were identical.

I searched this thread, and discovered that I should check
Persons = Artists, AlbumArtists, Composers, Conductors and Lyricists.

So I checked all of those. No luck.

I changed my View to display every column (in case) but there were no misleading entries. I've run Maintain Database (several times), but I cannot find the entry causing the problem. I also re-installed the add-in itself.

The File name path does include the name (for NGDB) but it also has the "The".

Can anyone suggest any areas where I could check.


PS Does the use of CAPS in the first line indicate that the erroneous Entry is in CAPS, or all all displayed this way. they don't seem to be in other nodes.

I may be missing something but your CAPS version does not have the "THE" whereas the artist and album artist does, what field is the CAPS version from and why does that one not have the THE? Maybe that is where your inconsistency is coming from.

Capitalization is also an inconsistency. I just ran into this problem myself where TI said I had an inconsistency and I'd be danged if I could find it. After several attempts I'd find one song with 'the' instead of 'The' or 'of' instead of 'Of', that sort of thing. Composers are particularly a pain when there is more than one because they won't always be listed in the same order, etc.

To try and narrow it down,

I changed each of the tracks (1, 304 & 112) highlighted, and mis-spelled one word (not the "The") in the artist, and Album artist fields.

Interestingly, I still get an error reported saying

THE Inconsistencies (6)

but this time there are no sub-nodes, and no files listed.

So that tells me that the total 417 files originally listed there appear not to be the problem.

Next I deleted all tracks (except for 1 per collection to save my collections etc), Maintained the database, then re-imported all tracks.

Still the same problem.

Next I deleted those 417 files from the database. And optimized

I still get the error reported saying

THE Inconsistencies (6)

but again no files listed

But search fails to turn up any files with the dodgy words in them.

So still lost.

That's the problem, I have no way of finding it. It appears not to exist

You might have some lingering problems in your db, try maintaining the db and then running TI again. Make sure you have the option checked to remove unused attributes.

I had been doing frequent "Maintains"

However the "remove unused attributes" option was unknown to me. Reset it and prob disappeared.
