@ guest, how large is your library?

If you have a small library then there may not be very much tracks to pick from since it currently only looks for songs that are already related to the track.

there should be a log file in the mediamonkey\scripts\auto\lastfmnode.vbs.log if you open it (it might be rather large if you ran it for alot.. whats the last 100 lines or so? look for the last section that starts with dj event begin and autodj begin.

I also love the DJ-mode and having read about how it works at the same time as scrobblerdj I'd find it tempting to let the two "cooperate". What I'm aiming at is that it would be nice if, e.g., first the script would try adding a similar track. However if it cannot find any it uses scrobblerdj to add a track by a similar artist ...

I've already plans to add additional modes like how scrobblerdj does it (random related artist + random related artist top track) and more, as optional fail-over in case the related tracks doesn't find sufficient tracks.

Additionally I will eventually add the option to enqueue multiple tracks per query, so you could choose between 1 and 10 or so tracks (assuming you have that many usable related).

Yes! In fact this weekend I got the artist last played timer working, but I haven't released yet.

Getting an actual option sheet will probly come very last once I get everything else stabilized etc.. doing option sheets are a bit of a pain in the ass since all the controls have to be manually specified in their location on the form etc.

In the mean time, you can change the some of the variables at the top of the script to customize various things.

first up: i love mm and love the idea of this script even more and sorry for spamming my logs ;-)

i have a similar problem regarding the "no similar tracks found()"-message.

he finds plenty of similar tracks, but most of the time won´t put any of them in the queue

I can't see what wrong from that log, but I have gone ahead and uploaded the most current script.

It has 'artist repeat timer' and a retry counter which will progressively (temporarily) reduce the limits to hopefully allow more usable tracks. This should help out running out of tracks until I can add the additional modes I want.

I also added a little more info in the log (shows track counts for the major functions) so we can see where tracks are dropping.

Also, the script has not been localized, so I don't know what effect that may or may not have.

It's not the most pretty, but it seems to be working OK.. try it out and let me know how it works for you!

Some might already be aware, but at the top of the script are a bunch of variables which determine some options. I've set them up with what I think are the best balance, but feel free to experiment if you want more/less repeats and/or more variety or more relevant tracks.

If you mess something up with the settings, just re-install the MMIP file should fix it (only dj mode is currently saved to INI).

* functionalized the dj restrictions (shouldn't really have any discernable effect)
* add qry check for artist before searching artist+title
I am interested in knowing if this is any noticible improvement
especially for smaller libraries (shouldn't search for artists you don't have)
* added check for min rating and size in qry (rating uses 'djminrating' variable)
this affects the regular nodes to keep crappy tracks out, feedback requested'
* misc improvements & logging tweaks/details (be sure to delete log occasionally)'

Maybe i didnt get the whole idea behind this project but wouldn´t it be more usefull if the 'Add an Artist Message' Box suggest the current artistname instead of 'nine inch nails' everytime?

That is not a bad idea. Actually I had planned to figure out how to easily save/load user added nodes so the dialogs could go away until you wanted to add a new one, and add various menu's to easy add/remove the nodes... but my experiments thus far hasn't seemed that easy to do mange, especially with different types of nodes etc. and then I got distracted with the dj mode.

You can actually click the root last.fm node to get the current track's related tracks, but that doesn't work for the sub nodes. I can add something like that in the future for artist/tags (using current player track genre), would break up from being the same default popup all the time.

And I will add default variables that can be set at the top to make easier to change to your default preferences.

A question I had back for the MonkeyRok and Scrobbler DJ was to be able to search for tracks in the library such that various permeations of an artist name could turn up as positive matches...

e.g. if the script is looking for "John Lennon" would it find "Lennon, John" (artist in my database?)

I haven't had time to do much MM related including installing MM3, but that feature would motivate me to switch over the MM3. This was the one feature that really limited MonkeyRok and Scrobbler DJ in my use of MM2 as it effectively limited the apparent size of my library since most artists couldn't be matched.

I also realize this may not be an easy feature to encode, but I am hoping that the SQL database format of MM3 might make this more likely to work.

I do believe there is a script which can update artists by sort order/title order, but I've no idea if it can do it real time within a different script (I'm assuming not). And I'm assuming you wand to keep sort case (tho I can't imagine why /smirk).

Some of the SQL guru's or dev's will have to answer that, tho I do know it can catch variations of 'the artist' by putting the % token before the artistname in the sql.
